Lawrence Stanley Smith

Smith - Lawrence S., 93, of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, NS on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Born in Hunts Point, Queens County, Lawrence was a son of the late Carleton and Olive (Hartlen) Smith.

Lawrence was a former employee of Bowater Mersey Paper Company Limited retiring as Paper Superintendent. He was a long time deacon of Milton Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Order and the Order of Eastern Star. He and his wife Shirley made the most of their retirement spending winters in Florida and enjoying cruises with friends.

Lawrence is survived by his daughter Stephanie (Melvin) MacKenzie of Port Medway and son David (Paulette) of Charleston. His grandchildren Adam, Daniel and Alexander MacKenzie.

Besides his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by his wife Shirley, and his brothers Leslie and Alfred.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where visitation will be held Sunday, November 30, 2025 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. with a masonic service being held at 7:300 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Milton Baptist Church. Reverend Steven Baker officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be in Oceanside Cemetery, Hunts Point. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Hillside Pines, Bridgewater or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made below.
