Larry Brian Smith, 74, of North Brookfield, passed away unexpectedly in his home on March 24, 2026. 

Born in North Brookfield, he was the son of the late Basil and Kay (Kathleen Veinot) Smith. 

In his earlier years, he moved to Brampton, Ontario, working with Chrysler until he returned home to work for the Canadian National Railroad. After retiring from CN, he owned and operated L.B's store and gas station in North Brookfield for 20 years. He finished his working years at Kejimkujik National Park before retiring in 2022. Larry enjoyed being outside, woodworking and being in the woods and helping his neighbour, Peter Frank, with his saw mill. Never one to sit still, he also enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his vegetable garden and orchard. 

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Jocelyn (Holdright), his sons Jeff, Pentz, and Aaron, North Brookfield, sisters Diane (Glenwood) Ford, Beverly Connolly, Ricky Langille, Elizabeth (Sue) Barry, Carla (Steve) Malay, and his brother Glen (Jane) Smith, brother-in-law Jim Flemming, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Charlotte Flemming, and brothers-in-law, Jake Connolly and Donald Langille. 

Visitation at Chandler's Funeral Home, in Liverpool, will be on Wednesday, April 1, from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm. There will be a graveside service at the Rosette Cemetery following visitation, at approximately 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Queens Fire Department.
