Joseph Henry Feener

d. January 6, 2026

Joseph Henry Feener, lovingly known as Joey, GG, or “Mr. Feener,” passed away peacefully on January 6th, surrounded by love. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Donna; his son Evan (Laurel); and his cherished grandchildren, Sydney, Shea and Kale.

Joey was a man of many layers. He could be a challenge at times, but beneath that was a heart full of passion, pride, and love - something I always knew was there. Life with Joey was never ordinary. He experienced the world deeply, bringing both intensity and richness to the life we shared. He taught me how to live fully. From our travels together to quieter moments at home, Joey moved through life with strong emotion and a deep attachment to the people and things he loved. He took great pride in his boat, which represented freedom, joy, and time spent doing what brought him peace.

Fishing - especially bass fishing - was always close to Joey’s heart. Every Bass Pro Shop caught his attention, and the search for the perfect worm never quite ended. Time on the water brought him calm, and trips to Florida were something he truly enjoyed and always looked forward to. In his younger years, Joey was often the life of the party. He had a natural ability to make people laugh, could turn everyday moments into entertainment, and was well known for making up songs on the spot. A hard worker and a good provider, he took pride in caring for his family.

As Alzheimer’s slowly changed the man we knew, Joey faced losses that were difficult for him, including letting go of his beloved boat. His son Evan stood beside him during that time, offering steady support. Though the disease was not kind, it could never take away the many warm memories, laughter, and love Joey shared throughout his life.

In his final days, Joey gave me a gift I will always hold close - time. Time to reconnect, to simply be present together, to see him comfortable, at peace, and safe and to be able to love him fully. Joey often said I didn’t know how much he really, really loved me. I always did - and always will. His memory will live on in shared stories, quiet smiles, songs made up on the spot, and the enduring love he leaves behind.

Alzheimer's took his memory, but it never got his stubborn streak!

A celebration of life will be held Monday, January 12th, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. with a prayer led by Reverend Judy Cross at 8pm from Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Queens County Minor Hockey Association. Online condolences may be made below.

And as Joey would say, in the words of Lynyrd Skynyrd: "Cause I'm as free as a bird now." ♥️
