Joseph Carl Backman

Backman - Joseph C. “Joey”, 73, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Born in Montreal, Joey was a son of the late Stanley and Annie (Robar) Backman.

Joey worked as a truck driver for most of his life.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Schrader); his sons Kevin (Alisha) of Brooklyn and Carl (Sharlene) of Lacombe, AB. His grandchildren Shayla (Geoffrey) Hackney and Emilia Backman and great grandson Gabriel Hackney. His sisters Susan (Gary) Smith of Ontario, Beth McCoy of Alberta, Marion (Arthur) Clattenburg and Cheryl (Sterling) Nickerson, both of Hunts Point, Joan Murphy of Milton Florence Berry of Bridgewater. His brother Charles of Western Head.

Besides his parents, Joey was predeceased by his sister April Backman and his infant brother Owen.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral home, Liverpool. At Joey’s request, there will be no funeral service. Donations in Joey’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
