It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John “Jackie” Lorainne Nowe, 56, of Milton, Nova Scotia, at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, with family by his side.
John was the eldest son of Jennifer “Jennie” E. Nowe (neé Smith) of Port Mouton, and Jack L. Nowe of Milton.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, John’s family returned to Nova Scotia in the early seventies, where he was raised in Liverpool with his younger brother, Timothy. He spent most of his youth with family, including his numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, often playing baseball, racing cars or near where his mother was raised in Port Mouton.
John graduated from Liverpool Regional High School in 1988, then went on to take a Machinists course at the NSCC campus in Shelburne, graduating in 1992. In his early career, he worked at Composites Atlantic in Lunenburg, before moving on briefly to Bowaters in Brooklyn before its closure in 2012. He then returned to school to study refrigeration and air conditioning at the NSCC Lunenburg campus graduating in 2013.
John was a friend to many throughout his life. He was passionate about bringing smiles to the faces of those around him, whether it was through conversation or his witty sense of humour. A lifelong fan of music, John was known to enjoy dancing and singing and often shared that passion with those around him. He would often throw his own little dance party at home, blasting songs like “Pump Up The Jam” by Technotronic and “Mambo No. 5” by Lou Bega. In addition to music, John was avid motorcyclist. While he didn’t always have his own bike, he had embarked on great adventures and met good friends on road trips in his forties. Later in life, when he wasn’t busy with family, you would often find him re-watching his favourite films and television series, such as the Harry Potter franchise, Stranger Things, or just about any horror movie you can name. Overall, John dedicated all of his time to the things he loved, and the love he shared has left a lasting impact on those that knew him. Above all else, John put his family first and loved his kids more than anything,
Surviving besides his parents, Jack and Jennifer, are his three children, Jared, Lauren, and Olivia, his granddaughter Ophelia, (daughter of Lauren) and his brother Timothy.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. No flowers by request. Online condolences may be made below.
