John Alton Hupman

It is with sadness and love, but gratitude for his long, happy life that then family of John Alton Hupman, 95, of Summerville Centre, share that he died peacefully with family at his side on September 21, 2026 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, NS

Born in Summerville Centre, he was the son of Lawrence and Nina (Verge) Hupman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 76 years, Kathleen (Meisner) and his daughters Linda, Summer4ville Centre, Gale (Arthur) Deveau, Hunts Point, Mariann (Ricky) Broome, Port Mouton, Sons Stephen (Marg) White Point and Patrick (Sarah), Waterville, NS. He is also survived by his grandsons Todd (Lori) and Colin (Melissa) Deveau; Alan (Heidi) and Scott Broome; Spencer and Easton Hupman as well as great grandchildren Avery, Amelia, Alice, Peyton and Sister Gladys Roach and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by seven sisters and five brothers.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral home, Liverpool, NS. At his request, there will be no service. John lived for his family and we will gather at a future time to celebrate his life well lived.

John’s family want to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Alison Freeman and the medical staff of Queens General Hospital for their compassionate and exceptional care over his final days. Thank you also to the nursing staff on 3(b) at the VG Hospital.
