Janet Lee Dumeah, 46, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Toronto, Ontario on August 6th, 2024.
She was born on March 8th, 1978, to Richard & Becky Dumeah in Bridgewater Nova Scotia.
Janet attended Dalhousie University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Mount Saint Vincent where she was placed on the Deans Honour list.
She married Aaron Whynot on June 19th, 2017—the 21st anniversary of their relationship.
She dedicated the majority of her professional life to supporting the family business while maintaining close relationships with family and friends.
Janet focused her personal time on her favorite things: painting, cooking, heavy metal, and her love of baking, which she was introduced to by her grandmother Jean. She will be taking with her many family recipes that will be forever missed. Janet also had a keen eye for fashion and home décor, which allowed her to transform a once bland apartment into a warm and loving home.
While Janet will certainly be remembered and missed by many for her wry laugh, quick wit, and remarkable storytelling skills, her superpower was her sense of compassion, empathy, and hospitality for others. She often hosted friends during special occasions, ensuring they felt tremendously welcomed and tended to. Never missing an opportunity to show how much she valued her friends, she always pushed herself to deliver more than expected. Her dedication to caring for the people in her life was a privilege to watch for all who knew her.
Janet is survived by her husband Aaron, her brother Robert (Alanna), and her father Richard.
She was preceded in death by her Mother Becky, Grandparents Jim & Jean Dumeah and Grandmother Nancy MacLean.
Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. Her time and heart were split between Toronto, ON and Liverpool, NS. A Celebration of Life will be held in both locations. The Liverpool Celebration will be held at Lane’s Privateer Inn on Thursday September 12th at 3:00pm.
Donations can be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter where she got her beloved cat Beavis.
