Eric Roger Huskins

HUSKINS – Eric R. 87, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Beech Hill Farms, Queens County, Eric was a son of the late LeRoy and Verna (Smith) Huskins.
Eric’s working career started at a young age in the woods and later to Bowater Mersey Paper Company in Brooklyn where he worked in the Sulphite Department and later in the TMP plant from where he retired. Following retirement from Bowaters, he and his late brother Archie began a new career path by staring a “backyard” garage where they serviced cars from far and wide. This was also a local meeting place for coffee club which met at 10 and 3 daily.
Besides his love for cars and the woods, Eric enjoyed gardening, baseball and hockey; Eric being an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
Surviving are his daughters Kathy (Robert “Chubby”) Veinot of East Port Medway; Pam (Todd) Delong of Brooklyn; Patti (Gordon) MacLeod of Liverpool. His sons Peter (Laura) Halifax and Jamie (Phaedra) of Lunenburg. 13 granchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His daughter in law Sherry Huskins of Italy Cross. His sisters Harriet Nickerson of ON and Agatha Dorey of AB.
Besides his parents, Eric was predeceased by his first wife Noreen (Whynot), his second wife Caroline (Dexter) his son Paul and his brothers Archie, Warren, Bruce, George and Arnold.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Oceanside Cemetery, Hunts Point.
