HATT- Robert Ross, age 87, of White Point, Queens County passed away at home on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
Born in Milton, Bob was the son of the late Starr and Olive (Wentzell) Hatt.
With 13 siblings, Bob learned the importance of family and developed special bonds with each and every one of them that lasted their lifetime. He was fond of narrowly escaping trouble and thoroughly enjoyed playing tricks on people and making them laugh. He was quite the storyteller and always left you wondering if that really happened as he said (although the stories never changed).  He loved music and to dance, and even in his final days was tapping his toes and fingers to his beloved country music.  If you drove through White Point on a warm summer day, you would hear the music blasting as he mowed his perfect lawn.  He also loved projects. There was nothing he could not build and has helped many friends and family with renovations over the years.  He loved to cook and feed people, and was always proud of the feasts he created. For years, he cooked on Wednesday nights for the Men’s Group at Milton Baptist Church.
Bob served his country by driving a tank in the Korean War, was a baker at Seamone’s Bakery and Lane’s, owned his own restaurant with his brother Nibby, had his own antique and second hand shop with sister Kay and then retired from Bowater Mersey Paper Company after over 30 years. Although retired, he never sat still and always had something to work at. Bob and Cheryl, his wife of 32 years, loved to travel and to visit family living afar. They also loved to get together with friends for games nights and suppers. Although Bob had high expectations of his children and grandchildren, he was very proud of each and every one of them and was eager to share their successes with others. It was rare, but sometimes he would even compliment your cooking, which you reveled in for days. He never missed a Blue Jays game, usually had his dog Shadow curled up beside him.
Bob is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Wagner); his children E. Robert (Darlene Hunter) of Belleville, ON; Tina (Roger) Savoie of Toronto, ON; Malcolm McDonald (Jill Francis) of White Point; and Becky McDonald (John Harris) of Liverpool. Grandchildren Christina Hunter (Corey Mitchell); Selena Hatt (Haley Bennett); Jamie Hatt; Autumn and Flora McDonald and Brooke Dickie. Great-grandchildren Myah and Shayla Mitchell, Everleigh Bennett and many special nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his son Adam, and all of his brothers and sisters.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A celebration of life to be held on Wednesday, November 29 at 11 am in Chandlers Funeral Chapel.
