Harold Marshall Leslie

d. May 25, 2026

Leslie, Harold Marshall “Hal”, of Port Mouton passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital on Monday, May 25, 2026 with family by his side.

Born in Liverpool, Hal was a son of the late Cyril and Madge (Winters) Leslie.

Hal worked for a short time on a seismic boat sounding for oil off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. He then worked for Maritime Tel and Tel for a couple of years, leaving that job to work with his father in his painting business. During this time he lobster fished with his brother-in-law, Phillip MacDonald, every fall for about 13 years. He then took over his father's lobster boat and continued in the painting business until his father's retirement, at which time he pursued only fishing. He fished the Hobo and the Rosie Aileen until his retirement in 2022 when he then passed the lobster business on to his son, Adam. His granddaughters were very near and dear to his heart, nothing meant more to him than spending time with them.

Hal is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pearle (MacDonald); sons, Todd (Tanya) and Adam, both of Port Mouton. Granddaughters, Lauren, Addison and Bree. Also survived by sisters, Valerie (Donald) Inness of Port Mouton and Mary Lynn (Ron) Connolly of Brooklyn.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Mary (Lawson) Book Leslie.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A service will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Chandlers’ Chapel, Liverpool. No flowers by request, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com . (below)

A very special thank-you to the doctors and nurses on the medical floor of Queens General Hospital, especially Dr. Cosh who attend to Hal on his last day. The nurses are all angels and we can never thank you enough for his care.
