It is with profound sadness that the family of Goldie Olive Davis announce her peaceful passing on March 1, 2026, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Goldie was born in Summerville Centre, Queens County, Nova Scotia to Carl and Serena (Broughm) Davis.

She worked for a variety of businesses in Liverpool before moving to Halifax and working for Nedco/Westburne for over 30 years, most of that time as Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President and General Manager of the Atlantic Division, until her retirement in 2001. Goldie had a kind and selfless spirit, always stepping in to help where she was needed including when, following her retirement, she returned home to care for her mother. She returned to Halifax once her mother moved to Queens Manor.

In life, Goldie was a member of the Summerville Christian Church, and active in Wyndholme Christian Church in Dartmouth during her time in the city, singing in their choirs and supporting countless events. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and always enjoyed attending camps at Johnston Christian Park in Digby. She also travelled to a variety of church conventions.

Goldie enjoyed all board and card games as well as playing bocce ball and spending time at the beach with her friends, nieces and nephews, and their children. She could often be found hunting for a bargain or a hidden gem at yard sales, Frenchies or the dollar store, and going for long walks, usually with a friend or relative. She was an avid bowler, winning numerous prizes throughout her life and organizing social leagues. She loved decorating for every holiday and dressing up for Halloween. She also enjoyed travelling and travelled extensively throughout Canada and the USA. A trip to Australia was particularly impactful, and she spoke about it often.

She is survived by siblings Carl (Marie) Davis, Summerville Center, NS, Gloria (Clarence) Johnson, Kingston, NS, Eric (Ruby) Davis, Mersey Point, NS, Linda (Sylvio) David, Cole Harbour, NS, Sharon Davis, Halifax, NS and sister-in-law June Lohnes Davis, Summerville Center, NS. Additionally, she is survived by 11 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews, their families, as well as countless friends.

Goldie was predeceased by her parents Carl and Serena Davis, brother Alan Davis, and infant sister Karen.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, Nova Scotia. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
