Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Philip “Roy” and Cora (Abbott) Giffin.
Basil was employed for many years at Canada Post, starting in Halifax and retiring in Liverpool. Following his retirement from Canada Post, Basil drove for Queens Chrysler as a driver for many years, a job that he loved, found very relaxing and therapeutic. He was an active volunteer in the community throughout his life time serving in many groups and committees, including the Privateer Days Committee, the Winds of Change, the Astor Theater Committee and the Liverpool Lions Club. Basil was truly one of a kind, he loved to chat, discuss, and debate with friends old and new about anything at anytime and any place. He also loved sports, in particular the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Raptors. Above all, Basil loved his family and was happiest when his children and grandchildren visited or called for a chat. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
