Gary Burton Young

Young - Gary B., 79, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

Born in Liverpool, Gary was a son of the late Eldridge and (Helen (Carver) Young.

Gary was a former employee of Steel and Engine Products Limited “STENPRO” working Security.

His first love was music and, for the last sixty years, he played for numerous bands and travelled all over Nova Scotia. Every weekend you would find he and Danna, his companion and greatest fan, attending his “gigs”.

He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren playing cards. He was a very competitive card shark, a trait he earned from his mother Helen. Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Gary is survived by his daughters Christie (Chris) Thomas of Tantallon, Amy (Darren) Foley of Milton, Angela (Andrew) Smith of Liverpool. His grandchildren Claire and Paige Thomas, Seth Foley, Kody Young, Dylan Young and Devin Smith. His great granddaughter Addilyn Young. His sister Brenda Thorne of Atlanta, GA.

Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by his companion and soul mate Danna Winters and his sisters Shirley Mansfield and Judy MacLeod.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. At Gary’s request, there will be no funeral service. Online condolences may be made below.
