Gary Douglas Oickle It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Douglas Oickle, age 81, of Milton, NS, on August 10, 2026.

A hardworking man all his life, Gary spent most of his career at Bowater’s, where he worked as an iron worker until the age of 55. After retiring, Gary spent most of his days in his garage. There was almost always a project on the go, whether he was building furniture, woodworking, fixing something, or bringing one of Diana’s ideas to life. The garage was his happy place, and he could spend hours there, usually with a drink in his hand. Outside the garage, he enjoyed playing the guitar, which he taught himself to play, as well as doing yardwork, fishing and hunting, and working on his project vehicles. Those who knew Gary well would describe him as hardworking, stubborn, and caring. Beneath his tough exterior was a man who would help just about anyone who needed it, especially his family. His humor came through in teasing remarks and giving people a hard time. More than anything, Gary will be remembered as the best grandfather. He spent countless hours watching his grandchildren play sports, spoiling them whenever he could, and doing whatever they asked of him, even if he complained the whole time.

Gary leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories, and projects built with his hands, along with a family who loved him deeply. He will be missed more than words can express.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Diana Oickle; his children, Thomas Oickle (Tanya Drake), Bobby Oickle (Ericka), and Jeff Jordan (Darlene). He was a proud grandfather to Sonia Oickle-Lowe (Sean Lowe), Brooke Oickle, Tucker Nowe (Emeline), Rogan Oickle, Sophia Roy, Brett Jordan (Kelsey), and Kelsey Forbes (Kenneth). Gary was also a much-loved great-grandfather to Tatum, Deacon, Dallas, Addelyn, Ava-Lynn, Alexis, Olivia, Isaac, Makenzie, and Beau. Gary is survived by his sisters Suzan Bezanson and Rose Ross.

He was predeceased by his parents, Cora and Malcolm Oickle, and his brothers Eugene and Wayne.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A public graveside service will be held at Milton Cemetery on August 18th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
