Gary Richard Jollimore

d. Jun 27, 2026

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Richard Jollimore at the age of 78, on June 27, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, surrounded by his loving wife, Anna (MacEachern), and his beloved grandson, Kolby.

Born and raised in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Gary was the son of the late Earl "Johnny" and Gladys (Penney) Jollimore. Growing up with his twelve siblings, he learned the importance of family, hard work, and friendship - values he carried throughout his life.

Gary met the love of his life, Anna, when they were just thirteen years old. Their love story spanned more than six decades, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage while raising a family filled with love. Early in their marriage, they moved to Ontario, where Gary worked in a variety of occupations before returning home to Nova Scotia in 1979. He later devoted many years of service to the Region of Queens before taking early retirement.

Gary had a deep love for the outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting and always looked forward to hunting season. He also loved fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He loved teaching them the ways of the woods and the importance of respect for nature. He was also an avid sports fan who faithfully cheered for his beloved Montreal Canadiens and enjoyed watching baseball. One of his greatest pleasures was spending countless evenings at the ball field watching his youngest daughter play. His love of the game inspired him to coach baseball for several years, where he positively influenced many young athletes.

Winter was Gary's favorite season—not only because of hunting, but because of Christmas. He took tremendous pride in decorating his home inside and out, creating a place of warmth, celebration, and joy for everyone who visited.

More than anything, Gary treasured time spent with his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of his world. Family gatherings brought him great happiness, and no visit was complete without one of Gary's famous cups of coffee, shared with laughter, stories, and conversation.

Gary leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his beloved wife of 60 years, Anna (MacEachern) Jollimore; his son, Gary Jollimore (Lorrie) of Alliston, Ontario; and his daughters, Gladys Jollimore of Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and Julie Thompson (Tobin Thompson) of Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Kristin Schick (Sarah Fleming), Lisa Schick, Gary "Bugsy" Jollimore, Catlin Jollimore-Charest (Kaitlyn Butler), Christina Jollimore-Charest, PJ Byard, Nolan Thompson, and Kolby Thompson.

Gary also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren: Jackson, Abby, MJ, Laine, Mickey, and Dexter, each of whom brought immeasurable pride and joy to his life.

He is survived by his siblings, Dennis Jollimore (Linda), his loving sister Mary Anne Jollimore, and his brother Terry Jollimore (Jan), along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Earl "Johnny" Jollimore and Gladys G. (Penney) Jollimore, Gary was predeceased by his siblings Earl, Ernest "Dunny", David, Norman, Ronald and Donald (the twins), Phillip, Sydney, and Nelson.

Gary will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and the warmth he shared with everyone who knew him. His legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to family will continue to live on through all whose lives he touched.

Cremation has taken place under the direction and care of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. K, nurses Clover, Naomi, and Kristen, and the staff of South Shore Regional Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Gary during his final days.

No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to The Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation or The Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.

"Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near."
