Eugene Ford Whynot Sr.; father, Grampie, and great-Papa – fondly known as Hub or Hubby to many - passed away on June 26, 2025, at North Queens Nursing Home at the age of 83.
Born in Liverpool, N.S., Eugene was the son of the late Frank and Vera (Wamboldt) Whynot.
Eugene found great joy in spending time ‘up home’, where he cherished visiting with family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and took great pride in tending to his flower garden and vegetable patches in the back field. These peaceful past times brought him comfort and kept him connected to the land he loved. Eugene also found enjoyment in whittling and painting various pieces of folk art which he joyfully shared with those closest to him.
Eugene will forever be remembered by and children Jackie (Danny) of South Brookfield; Tricia (Matthew) of Voglers Cove; Bobbi-Joe of Waterville; and Eugene Jr. of Liverpool; grandchildren Sabrina, Hubert, Ariel, Madison, Dylan, and Brady; and great grandchildren Adarah, Melody, and Mason. Eugene will also be missed by sisters Theresa Brewster of Brooklyn, Judith (Roger) Williams of Lockeport; half-sister Brenda Cunningham of Milton; half-brother Gary (Debra) Oickle of Milton; sisters by choice Marian Nauss and Mary Judge both of Caledonia; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn; a son in infancy; sisters Rosaline, Christine, Diane, Virginia, and Dolly Mae; brothers Sidney, Jerry, Charlie, Lawrence, Gary, and Owen; and half-brother Ronald Oickle.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. Visitation for family and friends from 10:00-11:00am, followed by a celebration of Eugene’s life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday July 3, 2025, at Chandler’s Funeral Home.
