Whynott, Elmer Eugene CPA CMA

The family of Elmer Eugene Whynott are saddened by his passing on March 26, 2026 at the age of 98 in the Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Harold and Agnes (Wamboldt) Whynott.

Elmer was employed by best Best Yeast and Standard Brands Limited, his last years as Assistant Plant Manager. In 1974 he joined the Accounting Department of Bowater Mersey Paper Company.

In his younger years he was active in the Kinsmen Organization, Liverpool Baseball Club and the Liverpool United Baptist Church serving on various committees and was the church auditor for twenty-three years. After retirement he and Joyce enjoyed travelling, spending their winter months in Florida and their summer months in Greenfieldwith their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Slauenwhite); his daughters in law Karen and Dale, both of Liverpool. Two grandchildren, Tasha (Robert Tyrrell) of Halifax, Ryan Whynott of Toronto; three great-grandchildren, Tyson, Tanner and Emma Jane Tyrell; brother, Douglas (Diane); niece, Lisa; two step-grandchildren, Kimberly and Erin Byrne.

Besides his parents, Elmer was predeceased by his sons, Blaine and Wendell.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A private family graveside funeral service will be held at a later date in Liverpool United Baptist Cemetery.
