Carver - Doris Clare, 87, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at home with family by her side.
Doris was born in Whiteburn, Queens Co. a daughter of the late Guy and Hilda (Conway) Armstrong.
Doris worked at many jobs as a young woman including as nanny, at Kedji Lodge and the North Queens Nursing Home in Caledonia. After marriage, she focused on her family while working outside the home occasionally. Doris was well known for being a great cook and her cinnamon rolls and bread were much sought after by both family and friends.
Doris was a hard working volunteer at community suppers, events catered by the legion and fire hall auxiliary while also baking for those events. She was an avid dart player, playing in many tournaments including provincially. Doris enjoyed bingo, playing cards as well as board games with family and friends.
Doris is survived by her daughters Carolyn Veinot, Rosanna (John) Tepstra, Helen (Georgie) Uhlman, Jeanne (Stephen) Martin and Janet Carver. Her brother Terry (Marg) Armstrong. 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband G. Allen; son Weldon; siblings Guy Jr., Jimmy, Charlie, Marilyn, Helen, Jean, Danny, Carolyn, Gary and Robert as well as her beloved dog “Bear”.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A celebration of Doris’ life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Queens Fire Hall with Reverend David Lutes officiating. A private family burial will take place following the service in Highland Cemetery, Hibernia Road, Caledonia. Reception will be in the North Queens Fire Hall. Family flowers only, donations may be made to North Queens Fire Association, the Westfield Community Hall or the Bus fund for North Queens Nursing Home. Online condolences may be made below.
