Davis, Carl G. 92, of Summerville Centre passed away peacefully at Queens General Hospital on Sunday, May 31, 2026 with family by his side.
Born in Port Mouton, Carl was the son of the late Carl M. and Serena (nee Broughm) Davis. He graduated from Liverpool High School and took a machinists course at Steel and Engine Products (Stenpro). He married Norma Marie (Feener) and moved to Halifax, where he lived for 40 years. In Halifax he worked at Nova Scotia Armature Works then switched jobs to Dalhousie University as Mechanical Foreman for 18 years. While in Halifax he was a scout leader, and a member of a bowling league. He retired back to Summerville Centre, Queens Co, in 1996.
One of his favourite hobbies was playing the guitar where he jammed at many Hank Snow Festivals and accompanied bands at Queens Manor. He was a director and later an honorary director at the Hank Snow Society. He loved country and bluegrass music and attended many outdoor festivals in his motorhome in NS, PEI and Maine. He had seen 41 classic country music stars in person and had visited the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and many theatres in Branson. A proud memory is when he met Tom T. Hall and got his autograph on a $1bill as he didn’t have any paper.
He is well traveled with 3 trips across Canada and parts of the USA. He flew to Sable Island for mechanical work and petted some ponies while there.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Norma Marie (Feener) , son Blair and wife, Susan Whidden of Clam Bay, NS, his daughter Heather Davis and husband Claudie Maillet of Cheticamp, NS, and grandson Walker Maillet and wife, Jessica (Coulombe) of Whycocomagh Portage, NS, sisters Gloria (Clarence) Johnson , Kingston, NS, Linda (Sylvio) David , Halifax, Sharon Davis, Halifax and sister-in-law June Lohnes-Davis, Summerville Centre. He is also survived by one brother Eric (Ruby) Davis , of Mersey Point, NS. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Richard, Brian, Cathy, Carolyn, Janice, Carla, Sara, Ashley and Lucas.
Besides his parents,he was predeceased by his brother Alan, sister Goldie Davis and infant sister, Karen.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A private family graveside service will be held later. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 10th from 12 noon - 2pm, at the Summerville Christian Church in Summerville Centre. No flowers by request, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
A very special thank-you to Dr. Cosh and Dr. Drake as well as all the nurses, CCA’s and support staff on the medical floor of Queens General Hospital. The wonderful care they provided to Carl will never be forgotten and their support and kindness was very comforting.
