Capt. Maynard St. Clair Malloy

d. Jul 29, 2026

It is with grieving hearts we announce the peaceful passing at his home in Mill Village of Captain Maynard St. Clair Malloy on July 29th, 2026.

Born in East Green Harbour, he was the son of the late John "Jack" Malloy of Jean de Baie, Newfoundland and the late Hannah Jane Enslow of West Green Harbour.

Maynard was a career fisherman spending his entire working life on the sea, he spent many years being gone weeks at a time chasing the swordfish. Maynard had caught just about every kind of fish in the Atlantic Ocean, and it was a passion he shared with both his brothers Gordie and Gary. In his later years he slowed down and bought a lobster fishing outfit, which he did for as many years as he was able. In the past couple of years his grandson Dylan got into the lobster industry, and he went aboard with him whenever he could. If Maynard wasn’t on the water, he would visit the wharves and have a yarn with his many friends. Maynard liked to be out and about going to Liverpool almost daily to meet his parking lot pals at Sobey’s, getting tea from Tims and fries from McDonald’s. He also enjoyed going to his great grandson Andy’s baseball games whenever he played in Liverpool or Bridgewater. Maynard loved his visits to Jean de Baie Newfoundland and called it the home of his heart where his beloved Aunt Kate still resides.

Maynard was involved with many organizations over his years, he was a member of the IOOF of Port LaTour, a volunteer member of local fire departments, and he was proudest of his involvement with the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he assisted with many off shore rescues.

Maynard is survived by his wife and only love of 62 years, Mildred (Millie); his children; Angela (Andrew) Midville Branch, Andrea (Joey) Charleston, and Jody (Kathy) Crousetown. His grandchildren; Aimee (Matt) Clyde River, Jordan Montreal, Aaron (Taran) North West Harbour, Makayla Tanners Settlement, Emily (Vanessa) Mill Village, Dylan (Emily) Mill Village, Misty (David) Prospect Bay, Jessica (Tim) Mount Uniacke and Alisha (Cody) Bridgewater. Great Grandchildren; Andy, D’Arcy, Niamh, Gracie, Finn and Zeb.

His brother Gary (Hope) Petitcodiac, many nieces and nephews including Karla and Jo-Ann who called him their “Favourite Uncle”, and Copper who is waiting patiently to see him again.

Maynard was predeceased by his parents, Hannah and Jack, his siblings and their spouses Loretta (Leslie), Jean (Thomas), Mary (Arch), Jacqueline (Harold), Ivy (Lester), Gordon (Patsy). Daughter-in-law Debbie Dagley, as well as his parents-in-law, Forman and Mildred Newell, and brothers and sisters -in-law, Herbert, Claudia, Forman Junior, and Irene.
