It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Boland announce her peaceful passing at the age of 95.
Betty began work at a very young age to assist with family expenses. She was employed as a housekeeper and childcare provider. Later she began her employment at Lane’s Privateer Inn where she worked for many years in multiple roles. After her retirement, she focused on her skills as a seamstress. She sewed and quilted her own quilts as well as those of many others who came from near and far to seek her expertise at hand quilting. A sample of her stitching prowess hangs on display at Queens Place Emera Centre in the form of the Queens County Quilt. Many family members cherish their own handmade creations.
Betty and her husband, Link, enjoyed camping around the Maritime Provinces and did so for many years. They were also frequent visitors to British Columbia where they spent time with family and friends.
Very simple things made Betty extremely happy. Canning preserves, gardening, feeding the birds, errands with Robert and road trips with Nancy and Bertha were a few of those things. But what gave her the most joy, was her proudest accomplishment- her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Robert Linkard (Mary), daughter Nancy Leona Grant (Lennie), sister Bertha Blanche Goodwin, brother David Wilbur Bower, grandchildren Rhonda Hanley (Danny Moores), Terri Lynn Sperry (Dwayne), Jody Jollimore (Nick Wenger), Karen Boland (Charles Roy), Michelle Nauss (Fred), Joshua Grant (Shelby Massicotte), and Abby Grant (Curtis Bateman), As well as ten great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Linkard William Boland, daughter, Barbara Jean Jollimore-Bolton, grandson Kenneth Lloyd Keddy, and parents Woodbury Goodwin and Leona Bower.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Chandler’s Funeral Chapel in Liverpool, NS on August 26, 2026, at 11AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Liverpool Chapter of the VON. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
