Alta Marie Mason

Mason; Alta M., 76, of Liverpool, NS, passed away suddenly at home on April 11, 2026.

Born in Cornwall, ON, Alta was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Bertha (Doull) Taillon and a stepdaughter to the late Victor Gerhardt, Doris Taillon and Marguerite Eisnor.

Alta was a Program Support Assistant (PSA) at Dr. John C. Wickwire Elementary School, a driver for Queens County Transit and a former office clerk for Mersey Seafoods. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool.

Her faith was very important to Alta. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and served as a Eucharist Minister and a Sunday School teacher.

In her spare time, Alta enjoyed painting, sketching, sewing, knitting and working on her computer.

Alta is survived by her sisters Anne (John) Chisholm, Susan (Garlent) Oickle, Eunice (Monte) Gayle and Christine Taillon. Her brother Hugh (Shirley). Her stepchildren Gerald (Sharon) Mason, Dawn Mason and Colin (Thersa) Mason. Her stepsisters Sherri (Ted) Roy, Deborah (Jay) Thistle and stepbrother Raye Eisnor (Leanne Inness). Her best friend Sue Leger.

Besides her parents, Alta was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her brothers Pat and George, her stepsisters Barbara West, Doreen Cunningham, Judy Parnell, Patsy Harlow and her stepbrothers Robert MacDonald and Douglas Eisnor.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Father Keith Billard officiating. No flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
