Alexina "Louise" Bruce

d. April 2, 2026

Bruce – Alexina Louise,70, of Greenfield, Queens County, passed away at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, N.S. on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

Born in Liverpool, Louise was a daughter of the late Murdoch and Olive (Leeco) Bruce.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise, whose warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of all that knew her. She loved her family and friends fiercely and without judgement, and was extremely generous in nature, with always the most thoughtful notes and gifts every birthday and holiday. Family summers in PEI were always more fun with ‘Aunt Louise’ as she would pile herself in the backseat just like she was one of the kids and would always be up for any fun adventure, including helping to convince ‘Mom & Dad’ to stop for ice cream!

Louise also had a deep love and compassion for animals, especially cats, owning many of them over the years. I don’t think anyone that knows and loves Louise can think of cats and not think of Louise.

She worked most of her career at the PEI School Board and developed many great friendships through her work there, many of which lasted the rest of her life.

Her last years were spent back where it all began, in Greenfield, NS. She enjoyed thrifting, and spending time with her partner Willie, and their family, and her precious fur babies.

She will always be remembered for the way she made others feel cared for, her quiet strength, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends.

Louise is lovingly survived by her partner Willie Bowmaster, her stepchildren Amanda (Paul), Craig; sister Joanne Wellwood; stepsister Jill Hunt; nieces Kim (Paul); Jenny (Mark); several grandnieces / grandnephews. She is also survived by her faithful pets, who were her constant companions and a special source of comfort in her life.

Besides her parents, Louise was predeceased by her stepfather Colin Hunt; and her brother-in-law Douglas Wellwood. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Pine Rest Cemetery, Greenfield, N.S. Reverend Janet Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to the Shaid Animal Shelter or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
