In Memorial

Murray, Dana Ellsworth, age 61, of Westfield, Queens County, passed away on Friday, October 16th, 2015, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Charles Alexander Murray.

Above all else Dana, was passionate about his family and spending time with them. Once you became a friend and he took a liking to you, you became member of his adopted family. Dana was well known for his abilities as a story teller, having a great sense of humor and a warm loving heart. In his younger years Dana worked at the Halifax Dockyards and for Dominion Steel before going to work for many years at the N.F. Douglas Lumber Mill, as a lumber grader, retiring in 2006, due to ill health. He was a lover of nature and the  great outdoors, and was happiest when out deer hunting or tracking through the woods.

He is survived by his loving wife, the former Lynn Lewis; daughter, Tracy Murray (Dr. Bobby Ellis), of Wolfville; son, Scott, of Calgary; country brother, Kevin Mansfield, city brother, Layton MacDonald.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Queens County Branch of the V.O.N.. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com

Dearest Lynn and family,

Past visits we shared years back were made so enjoyable by listening to Dana’s stories. (Really liked the snowbank one Lynn!!.. ) A true friend indeed.. He will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. So many times times we saw the love shared between the two of you. Sometimes all it took was just a smile or that grin from him. And you would smile and grin back.. He will always be remembered with kind thoughts and happy memories. Our deepest sympathy at this very difficult time..Prayers and hugs ..

— thinking about the meaning of life.

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him,
Or you can be full of the Love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him only that he is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he’d want…
SMILE…OPEN YOUR EYES …LOVE…AND GO ON!!!

Dear Lynn & family

I am very heart broken to hear of Dana’s passing . When ever we worked together you would talk to me about Dana and how he was doing . When he had a setback you were certain he would bounce back , and he usually did . You were together a very long time….what awesome memories you must have.I recall the many times you told me how much you loved him . He was a very lucky man . I hope knowing that others care about you helps ease your grief a little .

Sincerely

Condolence from Tanya on October 18th, 2015 10:17 am

Dearest Tracy

So sorry to hear of your loss. Although I never met him, knowing the daughter he raised he must have been a wonderful person. I could see the depth of love you had for your dad when you spoke of him, recited one of his sayings or the many things he taught you. I hope you find strength and comfort in the wonderful memories you hold dear. Thinking of you all and sending much love.
