Mosher, Margaret Ruth, Age 91, of Liverpool passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday morning July 22, 2017.
Born in Southampton, Ontario, March 5, 1926, Marg was the daughter of the late Edwin Joseph and Margaret Matilda (Haley) McKnight.
In 1947 she moved to Liverpool with her husband Murray. Mom (GG) will be remembered for many things in our family, but mostly she was the glue that bound us all together. Her children, their respective partners, grandchildren and great grandchildren meant everything to her. Nothing gave her more joy than to have everyone together for special family gatherings, whether it was Labour Day weekend at the cottage at Ponhook Lake or Thanksgiving, Easter and especially Christmas in the family home. For all the years from the time of each of our births right up to the present, she made the Christmas holidays seem like our first time. She kept the spirit and excitement of the season going for everyone, reminding us how lucky we all were to be together. Marg was well known for her culinary skills and shared her wonderful cooking and elegant, baked deserts for many events outside the home. That same festive spirit and hard work in preparing for family events also carried over into her role as a strong leader and organizer within the larger community of Liverpool and beyond. She was Past President of the Liverpool Ladies Golf Club, Honorary Life Member of the Liverpool Golf Club and Past President of the Liverpool Ladies Curling Club. As well, she was a Charter Member, Director at Large and Honorary Life Member of the Atlantic Senior Ladies Golf Association. She also served as President of the Anglican Church Woman at Trinity Anglican Church as well as being a member of the Altar Guild. For many years she was an active volunteer for various events for Queens General Hospital. Marg loved to entertain, sew, dance, travel, attend theatre productions, watch her favourite sports, and she will be remembered as a passionate, competent bridge player who took great joy in the challenges of the game for many years playing with likeminded friends both in Liverpool and Deerfield Beach, Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband, Murray, of over 55 years, her sister Katherine Magee (Norm) and her brother Douglas (Betty) McKnight.
She is survived by her sister Esther Crompton (Don) and many nieces and nephews, all of her children, Kenneth Mosher (Shirley Frank), Mill Village; Shirley Mosher, Halifax; Hugh Mosher, Toronto; Esther Mosher (Michelle Forrest), Windsor, N.S.; Ruth Anne Zwicker (Kevin Cole), Liverpool, her grandchildren Eric (Kristine) Mosher, Mill Village; James Mosher, Dartmouth; Joel Zwicker (Natasha), Liverpool; Jennifer de Ruyter (Matthew), Toronto, and her precious great grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah, Karl, Samantha, Keir, Gage and Lexi.
The family would like to give a warm and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team of caregivers (Dale, Darlene, Wendy, Kim, Margo, Bev), the VON and Dr. Tim Woodford who helped our Mom and family through these past months.
Visitation will take place on Friday, July 28th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, on Saturday, July 29th at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the adjoining Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation, Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool, or the V.O.N.

This is a wonderful tribute to a grand lady. Mrs. Mosher (I was never able to call her Marg!), was a great matriarch to her family, and a fixture in our community. She will be missed. Always, that beautiful smile (sometimes a grin), and her keen interest in life. We could all learn from her culinary skills, and she taught me how to set a table, when the candles should be lit, and how to properly apply eyebrow pencil! I will miss her presence, as I know you all will, too. Hers was a life well and truly lived, and I know your many memories will comfort you in the coming days. From both Jim and I, condolences on her passing, for the entire family, but also my gratitude for the pleasure of knowing her.

I had the privilege of being a longtime neighbour of Mrs.Mosher.( I too, found it a little awkward calling her Marg!) She was truly a great lady with many tips to share about all things domestic! She truly found such joy in the many family gatherings she organized and the company of her wonderful family. She loved being a well known hostess as all who were invited to her home can attest. Her prowess in the kitchens of organizations she loved will always be remembered and her willingness to share recipes benefitted all of us. Ulf and I will never forget the wonderful years we enjoyed in the neighbourhood on Waterloo. Please accept our deepest condolences.

I Am So Sorry To See The Passing Of Your Mom. What A Grand Lady She Was. I Loved Waiting On Your Mom When She Came Into Sobeys For Her Groceries. After I Retired I Missed Your Mom, She Always Came In With Such A Delightful Manner About Her Self And Her Stories She Would Tell Me. I Loved Them All. I Told Her How Beautiful I Thought Her Home Was At Christmas Time And Her Tree Was A Thing Of Beauty. She Would Always Say To Me To Come And See Her Tree But I Never Got The Chance. For That I Am Sorry. May Mrs Mosher Now Rest In Eternal Peace For God Certainly Has Picked A Very Special Angel. Cherish All Your Memories Of Your Mom And Tuck Them Close To Your Heart, Because She Will Always Be In Your Heart!!! May God Be With You All At This Most Difficult Time In Your Lives

To the Mosher family,
In 1970, Marilyn joined an elite group of caterers who could plate a four star meal for 200 without turning a hair. Betty, Marion and Marg were the recognized culinary whizzes of Liverpool and performed on a regular basis at golf and curling clubs. Of this group, Marg would definitely have been the Dean. All have passed now and the voluntary banquet scene will never be as lustrous as it was then.
Add to that her winning smile, outgoing personality , love of community and family, and her impressive volunteer efforts and we have all lost a one of a kind VIP. Sincere sympathy to you all.

Marg was such a dear person in my life. She guided me through her beauty, her joy, her hard work, and her love. My work in my life has been around the importance of Beauty and Art and Fearlessness.
Marg taught me everything I need to know, to move ahead in life.
It is so difficult to become a “Grown-up”. When our dear parents leave. What I know is that Esther wrote the most beautiful online Condolence on my sweet little sister’s Obituary when she died. So I am now returning the gift.
Thank you, Esther!
That said, I am asking for “snail mail” addresses! Marg and my mother were “old school”, and the Beauty in that is Ancient Wisdom.

Thank you, David Large, for the words “Dean” and “lustrous”. I will be returning to Nova Scotia and the next banquets will be lustrous. Marg just passed on her legacy to the younger women.

Ken, Shirley, Hugh, Esther and Ruth Anne and your children and grandkids,
Your Mom lived her life to the fullest and you were so lucky to have her with you so long and in such sound and strong mental health throughout her life.
She and Murray were a Godsend to all of us Scott’s when we moved next door in the fall of 1955. Coming from Ontario, life in Liverpool was all very new to us and we could not have dreamed of having better next door neighbours. Your Mom, having also arrived from South Western Ontario just 7 years before us had an instant bond with Mom and both her and your Dad made out transition very smooth, welcoming us into their home and neighbourhood and beginning what was to be a life long friendship and like her, active engagement in the community.
She was so elegant, one of the most beautiful women in town, and few if any could match her sense of style. Her beautiful warm smile welcomed everyone and put all at ease. She could entertain anyone in style, and she did, from Prime Minister Chretien to neighbours and visitors from afar.
I cherished my visits with her and I don’t think I have ever been back to town since the 1970’s and not dropped in to say hello or even, with Lois to be hosted for a few wonderful days. I will miss her warm smile (and sound counsel :))) on my next visit.
I know you will all miss her dearly, but the love and guidance she set for each of you will serve you well for the rest of your lives.
Celebrate the life of your remarkable Mother with happiness and fond memories.
Love to all
Donnie

To the Mosher Family, my sincere condolences. Marg was the most beautiful woman I have known. Her pleasant personality and smile will be in my memory forever. She was a great mentor to me when I was a young girl and has a special place in my heart.

My condolences to your family. Mrs Mosher was a lovely lady and a wonderful neighbor to my mom, often bringing her homemade treats and sharing recipes that we continue to enjoy in my family. May your happy memories help you through this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to your family. Your mom was a wonderful neighbor to my mom and they enjoyed chatting and exchanging recipes. She loved her family, and shared stories about you all. She was a lovely lady, and always had a ready smile and a friendliness about her. She will be missed. I hope your wonderful memories will be a comfort at this difficult time.
