MORREAU – Pauline Gertrude (Clattenburg)(Gaskell) – It is with great sadness that the family of Pauline announces her passing. In her 83 years, she gave us many gifts; gratitude, kindness to others and respect and enjoyment of life and our loved ones. She passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, on February 14th, 2012.
She was born in Port Medway; the daughter of the late Laurie and Florence “Flossie” (Selig) Clattenburg.
Pauline was an on-hand agent for the Canadian National Railway at Medway Station for 21 years. She was a former active member of the Highway Pentecostal Church in Sandy Cove and a former active volunteer for the Arthritis Society. She also sponsored a World Vision foster child, Alex, whom her family will continue to sponsor. Pauline loved music and she loved to sing and dance. Her laugh was hearty and infectious and her spirit of determination and courage was an inspiration to everyone she touched. Pauline’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Queens Manor for the excellent care Mom received while she was a resident there. The family would also like to thank Dr. Morash for his wonderful care of Mom over the years.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Blair) Gaskell-Doyle (Parks) of Darmouth, Darlene (John) Gaskell-Chandler of Liverpool, her sons, Donald (Marilyn) Gaskell of Port Medway and Larry (Vladka) Gaskell of Hubley, grandchildren, Steven (Karen) Parks, Corey (Leah) Parks, Annette (Dan) Motter, Angela (Cameron) Burke, Michelle (Gary) Smith, Julie (Guy) Desgagne, Shawn Gaskell, Ryan (Stacy) Smart-Chandler, Megan Chandler (Shaun Allen), great-grandchildren Tyler and Brody Parks, Wyatt and Grace Motter, Hailey, Hannah and Dylan Burke, Rachelle, Emalla and Zachary Desgagne. Mom was from a close-knit loving family; surviving are her sisters Stella Stretch of Quebec, Florence (Ivan) Doggett and Marjorie (Alfred) Leslie, both of Bridgewater, brothers Charles (Joyce) Clattenburg of Port Medway and Arthur (Marion) Clattenburg of Hunt’s Point, sister-in-law, Diane Clattenburg of White Point and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband William Gaskell, her second husband Edward Morreau, grandson Justin Parks, sisters Mildred and Nellie, brother Harris and daughter-in-law Eunice Smiley-Gaskell.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 16th, 2012 from 7 until 9 pm and funeral service will be Friday, February 17th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m, both in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool with Reverend James Haughn officiating. Burial will be in Mill Village Community Cemetery following a reception at Chandlers’. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Highway Pentecostal Assemblies, Queens Manor, or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.

Donald and Larry, perhaps you might remember me (and my brother Ron) playing on the rocks around your house many, many, many years ago. We used to come up summers to visit our grandparents (Dessie and Everett Smith). Have fond memories of your mother and I know that you miss her, but this is, unfortunately, a fact of life.. Please extend my sympathy to your family.

So sad to hear of your loss. Your Mom was always a very welcoming person with a warm smile that comes to mind when I think of her. I am happy to have some fond memories of her and also know how much she loved her family and spoke of you all with pride. As you take time to reflect and recover be comforted by all of the loving care that she received from family and caregivers in her life.
