Miller; Sherri

January 6, 2020 192 Condolences

Sherriinframe

Sherri Miller of Port Mouton, Queens County, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died on Saturday January 4th surrounded by family and friends.
Sherri’s work and passion were as a caregiver. She was the best kind of nurse. Sherri retired from nursing and known to not be able to sit still began a career with the VON and when retiring from there, true to her nature of needing something to do became a private foot care provider.  Sherri was an artist (she may not have agreed), a puzzle solver, a crafter and a force to be reckoned with.
Sherri stole Walter’s car and his heart more than 50 years ago and together they raised three children Stephanie (Brian), Ricky (Karen) and Daphne (Mike) Her grandchildren Krista and Thomas were her pride and joy and recently great grandson Dallas added to that joy.
In addition to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild, Sherri is survived by sisters Sally, Peggy and Pat, a brother Murray and an extended family.
Sherri was predeceased by her parents Reg and Doris Wigglesworth and her brother Jim.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A tribute to Sherri’s life will be held on Saturday January 11th from 1-3pm at the West Queens Recreation Centre in Port Mouton. Private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation.
Thank you to all of the staff of Queens General Hospital for the amazing care extended by you to our wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend.

Sometimes life isn’t fair and that is certainly the case this time. You have lost two very important people in your life in a very short time span. The most important thing for you to remember is how much they both loved you. Remember your grandmother with a smile on your face .

I’ve known Sherri since I was a little girl. She was one of the teenagers we trailed behind on our way to school. Sometimes she would even let us carry her books–funny that this remains such a strong memory. But she was kind even as a young girl, as we were surely pests. And if there were boys around we were even bigger pests. No matter. Her goodness and great good humour were evident even then. A more recent memory was when Wally and Sherri told me to be happy with what I have. Though this brought me up short at the time, it stuck. Sherri and Wally knew what was important in life. And we are so much better for having known them both. Wally, Stephanie, Ricky and Daphne you are in my thoughts and I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
