Melanson; Leslie “Alex”

December 10, 2013 134 Condolences

Melanson;

There are no words to describe our sorrow announcing Alex’s sudden passing at home on Dec. 9, 2013. He was born in Liverpool on Dec 24, 1956, a gift to his family that brought a selfless love to us all. His working life as a Mill Wright was spent at Calgary Power, National Sea Products, Shelburne Marine, Canexel  and finally retiring from Bowater Mersey. Alex’s greatest joys were his children and grandsons who brought so much love to his life. His time spent at the cabin paddling Fisher Lake  with Joy will be cherished memories. Alex had a wicked sense of humor that will be missed by many who may have had the pleasure of being pranked by him; he loved every minute of it. He was a hard worker and took great pleasure in working with wood; using his portable sawmill he sawed all the lumber to build our beautiful home on the banks of the Medway River where he enjoyed 13 wonderful years. He was predeceased by his parents Roger and Estelle Melanson; who he cared for with great love and loyalty. He leaves behind his wife; Joy (Dobson) who was his best friend for 35 years. His beautiful daughters Jennifer and Lindsay; who he loved deeply and took care of in every way he could. His little buddies Riley and Ayden; his cherished grandsons to whom he was the “best Papa in the world”. His sisters; Gayle (Doncaster) and Anne (Murphy) and their families and his brother; Bob and his family. As Alex wished; there will be no funeral or visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Mill Village Community Cemetery, C/0 Mike Lockwood, Mill Village, N.S. B0J 2H0. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.chandlersfuneral.com

    Dear Joy and girls, Gayle, Anne, Bob it is inconceivable to me that Alex is gone and I know you feel the same way. My heart breaks that it was so sudden and unexpected. Growing up I spent as much time in the Melanson home as my own and Alex was a big part of that. I pray you have comfort in my belief that he is at peace with your Mom and Dad. Prayers and Hugs Linda

    Joy, Lindsey, Jenny and family, I have been trying to find the words to tell you how sorry we are for the loss of a pretty great guy but myself I can not come up with anything that will help you right now other than by the looks of all the beautiful messages you have received your Husband and the girls Dad and the boys Granddad WAS exactly what you already knew he was and that was one heck of a man so while you are grieving please smile and know that He is watching over you all and he is also spending time with Freemen. The stories he will tell when you are together again. Hugs to you all and RIP Alex and Thank you for the laughs..Weenie

You were so fortunate to have such a loving husband and he was an amazing father and grandfather; a true family man! My heart is saddened and my thoughts are with you and your entire family at this extremely sad time. There are really no words that can help, but I hope you find some comfort in all the love you are receiving from friends and family. You are in everyone’s thoughts.
