To view Judy’s service

MCLEOD – Judy, 74, of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on January 1, 2022.
Born in Bridgewater, Judy was the youngest child of Eldridge M. “Al” and Helen M. (Carver) Young of Liverpool.
Mom was a typical child of the 1950’s and 1960’s. She loved to swim at the boom all summer and skate on the pond all winter. Roller skating and riding her bike around the Pre-Fabs took the rest of her time. Going to local dances was definitely her most favorite memory which she often spoke of.
Her and Dad loved to go for long drives and sample all the restaurants as they both loved a good meal. Mom read thousands of novels, loved Lexicon puzzles and watching Coronation Street on TV. She liked to play sports in her younger years. Softball in the summer and volleyball all winter. Walking replaced both and she could average 16 kms a day if time allowed.
Judy is survived by her son Jeffrey (Wilma) of Milton, granddaughter Meagan of Ottawa, sister Brenda of Atlanta, Ga., brother Gary of Liverpool.
Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Wayne, her eldest sister Shirley Mansfield.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in Milton Community Cemetery. No flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
All those who wish to attend Judy’s service are reminded to bring a mask, provide contact tracing information and proof of vaccination to the funeral staff, practice social distancing wherever possible and hand sanitize. Live streaming of Judy’s service will begin at service time on the day of her service.

So very sorry to hear of Judy’s passing . She was a huge part of my childhood. I too remember spending summer days on the boon swimming and some very cold days skating on the nearby pond. Our lives were so care free and simple back then. We were so fortunate to be a part of the prefab group of kids, so many of us, and we spent a great deal of our time outdoors with our parents mostly leaving us to our own devices , allowing our imaginations to dictate our actions. Surprisingly we did manage to survive some of the interesting situations we often got ourselves into. I especially remember, after an unusually huge snow storm, we took turns climbing to the top of a telephone poll and jumping into the snowbank below. Judy had a relatively long and new coat on and it got caught on one of the pole spikes. Somehow we managed to get her down but not without a lot of laughing on our part and Judy worrying how she was going to explain the torn coat to her parents. She will be missed and always remembered by many.
