Dear Peter and the McInins Family:
It’s never easy to lose a loved one. And losing your mom is always a special kind of pain. Moms generally hold families together even after all the kids are grown. You’re always her babies, no matter how old you are. I probably only met Doris a few times when I was hanging out with Peter when we were kids, but from everything I’ve read, she was very special to so many and adored by her children.
We all deal with grief in different ways. I hope that when you are all dealing with this heartbreak, you’ll remember that the best medicine is to share the happy, and funny, experiences you all had with this lovely lady. As a mom I’m sure there’s nothing she’d like better than to know her children are choosing to recall all the very best times they shared with their mom and bonding over those memories.
To my childhood friend Peter: I really didn’t have to know your mom to understand what a great lady she was. How could she have been otherwise raising a son as decent as you are? If a mother’s greatest legacy are the kids she brought into this world, you have done her proud my friend.
Love and hugs!

We met Doris and Doug many years ago when we all moved here in the early 70’s. They were a friendly and caring couple. After Doug’s passing a few years ago, Doris continued to be involved in what was happening in the North Queens district. She always had fun and brought a great positive spirit to whatever she attended. She will be missed and wonderful memories of her will remain.
