I would like to expand on Luke’s obituary. Luke had a wonderful career in the navy. I am sure the community has fond memories of him peddling his bike around and socializing with everyone. He enjoyed spending time with Aunt Laura, Bud and of course Carol whom fulfilled his life. At the age of 65ish, he finally got his license. That’s brave!
I saw him a few months ago and his mind was very sharp. He hadn’t been back to Charleston for years so I took some pictures and sent them to him. He wanted very much to see and chat which his old friends again. I hope the pictures allowed for some fond memories to resurface.

As a child, I can’t remember a time when Luke wasn’t a part of our lives. He was my father John’s best friend and was always so kind to our family. I just spoke of him to my Mother the last time I was home in January, sharing the great memories.
Time passed and he and Carol spent many happy years together. Passing by, seeing them on the porch was always such a welcome sight.
I will treasure his memory and express my sincere condolences to the family.

My father, Bob Millard was at sea on the S.S. Vinland with Luke and talked glowingly of those times. He even wrote a book about it! Bob and Mary visited Luke and Carol any time they could.
After Mary’s death, Dad took me to see Luke when we were in Nova Scotia together. We loved his red truck! It was lovely to witness the closeness when Bob and Luke were together. Fond memories.
I visited Luke a few years ago at the comfortable home that Tim and Gloria created. He was pleased that I visited and gave me the gift of a photo of Dad at sea that I treasure! You are missed, Luke!
