So sorry to hear of Roxie’s passing. The beautiful gardens- we were afraid to walk on the “sidewalk” in front of them for fear we would break a flower! Wonderful lady!

We were sad to hear that Aunt Roxie had passed, but think she is at rest in a peaceful place. We will miss her, but are grateful for the memories of her and the family.

Carolyn, Chris, and Judy, you were always mentioned in my conversations with her. She appreciated the tremendous efforts made by you, and was so glad she could rely on you and your compassion. You will miss her, too, but have given far beyond what she expected from you. Bless all and take comfort in that she loved you dearly.

Calli, while going through Mom’s photos, I came across a black and white picture taken on the lawn at the Frail house in Caledonia when it had a front verandah. It was my third birthday and a youthful Roxie and a cute young Dougie were there to help celebrate along with May and Scotty and Margie. While Roxie and May and Mom and many of their generation have passed on, they played such a special role in my life growing up in Caledonia. Roxie was so fortunate to have such caring support from you and Chris and the rest of your family, especially in her final years. I’ve mentioned to you before that you gave Roxie lots of “bragging rights” over the years as a much loved daughter-in-law! My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Condolence from Sylvia and Bruce Fancy on January 11th, 2015 7:29 pm

To the family of my dear friend and cousin Roxie.. I want to acknowledge Roxie for the many chats on the phone ( helping me with tracing my family roots and for the family photos) as well as those at the end of her driveway whenever she saw me coming walking. I so enjoyed her stories, the cups of tea at her table, especially the stories of her father ( my uncle Ashton) and my grandfather Angus Frail. She was and always will be remembered as a gracious lady , she always spoke so highly of the people who surrounded her ( both family and friends). She will be remembered with great admiration. Pls accept our deepest sympathy at this difficult time. RIP my dear friend.

Condolence from Robbie and Florence Douglas on January 12th, 2015 8:41 am

Carolyn and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of Roxie. Her gardens were always amazing. Roxie worked so hard to make them beautiful. Robbie has often spoken of the time she gave both Dougie and him a permanent. It is hard to think of Caledonia without so many of people like Roxie who were so much a part of our community. The church, community and especially you, her family, have lost a great lady.

I, along with everyone else in our community am saddened by the loss of lovely Roxy. She was so loved. I know of countless people who had their wedding photos done in her beautiful yard. I was among those people. She even offered to do my flowers for the church which were lovely. She took such care to tie up all her flowers before photos so it would be picture perfect! I was blessed to have her and Lloyd attend my wedding as she offered many compliments on my choices of colours. My brother lived next door and for many years I had a business there and we chatted over the fence every day rain or shine. My fondest and last memory of Roxy was the morning I entered her room and began to sing you are my sunshine., she chimed in and sang a few words with me. Then she hummed along with me. It was a sweet moment and I will carry it with me.thoughts and prayers to all loved ones

Condolence from Delbert & Mary Weare on January 12th, 2015 8:46 pm

Dear Carolyn and family; When l was 13 years old in 1954 l first met Lloyd and Roxie at a card game at the Late Claude and Gussy Morgan’s home in New Grafton. They remembered me every time they saw me after that. Roxie was in her car in Bridgewater with a driver but when she went to open her passenger door to get in she slipped and fell on to the ground. Fortunately l was just walking buy and saw her fall so l was able to pick her up and put her in the front seat. Was she ever pleased and let me know it, Roxie was a most wonderful lady, classy but very humble. She certainly will be missed by all. With all our heart felt love to you folks, Del & Mary Weare

Condolence from Diane Muise (daughter of Jean Erskine (Eisan )) on January 12th, 2015 9:23 pm

While I didn’t know Roxie’s family very well I came to know and enjoy my yearly visits with Roxie as I went with my mum (Jean) to visit. I just want to leave a few of my memories of Roxie with you and maybe a smile on your face. Her love of chocolate was something we shared although I would not get between her and her chocolate. Whether it was the chocolate brownies my mum baked to bring to her or the s’mores we made at keji where my cousin was camping. And of course her secret stash of fudgeos in her cupboard in case she ran out. ( usually 8 packages at least). One day she told me to tuck a couple packages of fudgeos into her coffin when her time came. My mum said be careful what you tell her because she would do it. Unfortunately I cannot attend the funeral but be sure that if I could I would have a few packages of fudgeo cookies with me.
I want to leave you with one other story which happened the last time we visited Roxie at her house. She had gone that day to have her hair done and for whatever reason couldn’t find her wallet. She had me looking everywhere including in the freezer several times and under her bed and in every nook and cranny we could think of. We finally located her wallet in the flour drawer. I will always have a smile on my face when I think of Roxie and her telling us how glad she was we could come and visit. May you keep them hopping up above with your humor and kind heart. God bless you.
