Brian Stuart Manthorne

Manthorne- Brian Stuart, 76, of Milton, Queens County, passed away on August 8th, 2021, at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Brian retired from Nova Scotia Power on July 1st, 1997 after 32 years of service. He worked as an Area Control Operator until the control room closed and then as a utilityman on the Mersey Hydro System.

Brian was a kind hearted man and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed nature and was always happy going for a walk through his wood lot and doing silviculture work to improve it. When not in the woods or visiting his friends, he was usually outside tending to the property, gardens and his grapevine. He liked to read, especially books on local history or anything pertaining to W.W.I. He tried never to miss John Leefe’s radio show “A Moment In Time”. He also enjoyed travelling to various provinces and trips abroad to the sunny south.

Brian was a son of the late Edward and Emma (Faulkner) Manthorne. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sister, Marjorie Randall of Bridgewater; as well as sister-in-law, Bertha Manthorne; brother-in-law, Merrill Stafford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by sisters, Phyllis Moore, Helen Nickerson, Elsie Stafford, Gloria Meers; brothers, Hector, Eric and Edward.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Service, Liverpool. At Brian’s request there will be no funeral service.
