MACLEOD – Joanne Marie, 61, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
Born in Liverpool, Joanne was a daughter of Wilma (Whynot) MacLeod of Liverpool and the late Kinsford MacLeod.
Joanne had a great love for the outdoors and spending time with her family. She was such a loving and compassionate woman and spent her life taking care of others. Always smiling when entering a room; Joanne was beautiful inside and out.
Besides her mother, Wilma, Joanne is survived by her son Jason (Jody Hanley) of Milton. Her grandchildren Reilly MacLeod, Brady Hanley and Mikhail Manuel. Her sisters Debbie (Dale) Banks of Springhill, NS, Doreen of Hunt’s Point, NS. Her brothers Wade (Thelma) and Gordon (Patti), both of Liverpool. Numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend, Valerie Roy.
Besides her father, Kingsford, Joanne was predeceased by her sister Vickie and her nephew Ashley.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Bog Road, Liverpool. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, all attending Joanne’s service are encouraged to bring a mask and practice six feet physical distancing.     This is so sad . I remember so much about Jo especially her laugh and how she said what she thought . she was so funny. I recently had a chance to have a long conversation with her . We talked about how we would visit and my mum would get her hair permed . We also had a lot of laughs when we talked about camping and of course about bar night on the weekends . Those times were a blast . We laughed over so many memories that we both had tears going down our faces . I am grateful for my memories of Jo . She was just so kind , loving and she always had a smile .
