LETHBRIDGE – L. Joyce, 87, passed away on August 2, 2020.
Born in Liverpool, Joyce was the only daughter of Laurie and Dorothy (Murray) Thorbourne. Joyce worked at several jobs before joining the staff of Registry of Deeds and Probate where she stayed for 33 years retiring as Registrar. She had many hobbies; bowling, curling, darts, knitting and an avid reader of murder mysteries, but most of all music. Just about any type, the big bands were her favorite. She also loved her cats, they were special to her. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was also a 55 year member of Ladies Auxiliary, Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool where she held many offices.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Kurt) Kempf of Jacksonville, Florida; her sons Laurie (Audrelyn) of Liverpool; Kevin “Luke” of Lloydminster, SK; her step grandchildren Karen (David) Patthey, Kenneth (Sheri) Kempf ; her step great grandchildren Trent, Chevy and Harley Kempf, Taylor, Hailey and Owen Brooks; her brother Ronald (Stella) of Edmonton, AB, nephew Perry, nieces Amy and Sandra, all of Alberta.
Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her granddaughter Jennifer.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Reverend Judy Cross officiating.
