Dear Ann and Bruce and Families
I am so sad to hear about Phyllis. I did not realize she was not well. We shared the same birthday and every year on October 6, we would make contact or send cards or just think of each other along with other friends who shared the same day. My Aunt Sylvia Norman and Aunt Janet Dagley both worked with Phyllis in the school system. I would often hear their experiences a teaching together. My Sincere condolences to you.

Bruce, I’m so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing, she was probably the best teacher I ever had. The habits she taught us, I still use today. She was tough, but I thank her every day for what she did. Because of her, I can write beautifully, because of her, I understand how to do math and now work in an accounting office. Because of her, I know how big a cubic centimetre looks in my fingers. And she had a heart, as well. She kept me after school for a week for chewing gum, and drove me home every day after the buses left. I could go on, but you get the picture, you had her too. My thoughts and prayers are with you, take care.
Bernie Hatt

Dear Anne, Bruce And Families;
Francis & I Are Very Sorry To Hear About Your Mom’s Passing. I Myself Had Mrs. Leaman For A Teacher And Was Glad To Have Had The Privilege To Have Her. She Taught Me Things That I Welcome In My Life Today. We Always Chatted With Your Mom & Dad Over To Tim Horton’s When They Went For Coffee. They Always Took Their Little Pup For A Drive Every night To Get Her A Treat. I Believe The Dogs Name Was Candy. The Dog Would Get So Excited When We Went Over To The Car To See Them, Your Mom Had A Hard Time To Contain Her. They Certainly Loved Their Puppy. And Then Your Mom Would Send Me A Note Now And Then On Facebook Chat. I Loved To Hear From Her, I Could Tell She Was Very Lonely After Your Dad Passed On. Your Dad Thought The World Of Your Mom, There Was Nothing He Wouldn’t Do For Her.. Cherish All Your Precious Memories Of Your Mom And Keep Them Close To Your Heart. These Memories Will Get You Through Some Very Difficult Times Ahead. May Your Mom Now Rest In Peace, She Is Now With The Love Of Her Life. May God Be With You All At This Most Difficult Time In Your Lives.
Sincerely;
Francis & Peggy Payzant (nee Freeman).

Anne, Bruce and families,
I taught with your mom at Milton Centenial School for 2 years. Me , being a ‘newbie’, she was willing to share her ideas and offer advice. After I left Milton school, we continued to see each other ‘out and about’ and both she and your dad always had time for a chat. She was fiercely proud of her family. Take comfort in your memories and in the knowledge that throughout her teaching career she had an impact on so many lives. Gone from this earth, but not from your hearts.

It is with a heavy heart I read that Phyllis is no longer with us. I have enjoyed our late night talks and her stories of happier days. She was a wonderful, knowledgeable lady who was always thinking of others. Her family was constantly on her mind and she adored her great granddaughters when they visited. If she had been in better health she would have had a new fur baby to cuddle, who she wanted to call Jelly. Soar high with the angels my friend; you will be fondly remembered.
Anne Marie Hudson (Joudrey)

So many of her students will remember Mrs. Leaman when she taught at Milton School. She was one of the great teachers Queens County was fortunate to have that made Queens County foremost in education in Nova Scotia. She was always first in line when as Supervisor in the Queens District School Board, her skills were needed on the many committes set up through my office. We were always glad to see each other whether it be locally, in Florida, educational work, and on Facebook. We always joked about our close ages reminding me that she was a year older. She will be missed. Our sincere condolences to the Leaman family.
