LANNAN – Wayne E., 69, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away suddenly in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
Born in Liverpool, Wayne was a son of the late John and Anna (Whynot) Lannan.
Wayne’s story starts on “the Hill”, where neighbors can remember him hanging out at the Hero Sub, McNutt’s Corner Store, the Monument, and walking the high and low tracks. His travels took him to “the School” (now known as Penny Lane Enterprises), which opened their doors in 1969, providing Wayne with life long friendships, memories, and many opportunities.
Along the path, he became a legend at the Liverpool Fire Department as an honorary “decorated” member. He wore his hats, t-shirts, badges and beepers with pride. If you ask any Liverpool Firefighter about Wayne, their response will be “He was one of us”.
Wayne’s story ends as it began, on “the Hill”. Stone Hill became his home in 2009. He had a personality larger than life, continued to tell stories, developed a love for camping, country classics,” fish and chips and fish” and birthday celebrations.
“July 18” (Wayne’s Birthday), will forever be a day for those who loved him to tell his story over Tim Horton’s coffee and a “Cartwheel”.
Wayne is survived by his nieces Lisa (Clifton) Patterson, Karen (Andrew) Corkin, Julie Dolliver (Robert Ferguson) Tammy Lannan (Richard Croft) and his nephews Raymond Dolliver and Paul Lannan, several great nieces and great nephews as well as his “honey girl” Leonise.
Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his sister Joyce Dolliver and his brother Paul Lannan.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Bog Road, Liverpool, with Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Wayne’s Life at the Liverpool Fire Hall. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Stone Hill Residential Care Home. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.

Wayne was a breath of fresh air while we walked to school in the morning, always happy and smiling and with some encouragement, would yell “turn her up!!” To passing cars. Rest easy Wayne. Prayers for the entire family.

Grew up with Wayne and his family, on the hill and in the 80’s had the pleasure of working with him at the Adult Service Center, now know as Penny Lane. Not a meen bone in his body. I know Anna was waiting at the gate for him and I’m sure he was waiting to see her. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace buddy .
