It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Aloysius “Junior” Labour, a devoted family man, an exceptional fisherman, and a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. He left us for calmer waters after a brave and relentless battle with cancer, on October 10, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.
Born on January 7, 1964, Junior was a man of the sea, whose passion for fishing was unmatched. He spent countless hours navigating the waters with various crew over the years; most recently, his son Nicholas and son-in-law, Cory; fishing lobster, herring, and halibut. His expertise and knowledge of the industry were unparalleled, earning him the respect and admiration of fellow fishermen. Fishing was a family affair for the Labours, and he was particularly proud of his brother Peter, nephews Robert and Christopher and son Nicholas and valued his brothers-in-law, Craig, and Sheldon, beyond measure. Junior was a devoted family man. His love for his parents, siblings, children, and grandchildren knew no bounds. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, joy, and unconditional love. His family was his anchor, and he was their everything, always providing love, unwavering support, and encouragement. Junior was a man of integrity, known for his unwavering moral compass and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. Junior will forever be remembered for his tough exterior and warm and kind heart; always ready to listen, share a laugh, give a hug, or pour you a drink of rum. People were drawn to Junior like a magnet and no trip to anywhere was a short one as everyone wanted to be in his presence. He was a great listener and had a unique way of making everyone feel important to him. Junior and his large family all made each other a priority and in doing so, each summer, for the past 25 years, they would all gather for “Family Vacation” in Annapolis where they would spend 3 days giving each other undivided attention; away from all the intrusions of everyday life, leaving a lifetime of lasting memories. Over the course of his life, Junior enjoyed activities including broomball, golf, and baseball; most recently playing with his team, Ocean Gear, where many bats were swung, balls were hit, laughs were had, and beers were consumed. Junior spent the majority of his last 5 years balancing his time between family gatherings at his home in Port Mouton, where family and friends converged on a daily basis to talk, relax, play, share a meal and simply be in each other’s company, and his cottage on Molega Lake, enjoying lake life to the fullest. Pontoon boating, late night campfires at The Facility, cottage crawling, music, drinks, and dancing at” Last Call” and “Pour Decisions,” and side-by-siding with Debbie and his beloved friends, The Molega Crew, where he was affectionately referred to as the Captain. Family time at the lake with children and grandchildren; swimming, floating, bass fishing with Jase, tractor and buggy rides, BBQs, and sleep- overs filled his heart with so much joy and gave him so much strength, laughter, and love, and “filled his cup” with each visit. Junior leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. Junior was predeceased by his father Al Senior, and will be deeply missed by his partner Debbie; beloved mother Dot; Siblings Maria (Craig), Crissy (Sheldon), Peter (Amy), children Natasha (Cory), Nicole (Alex) and Nicholas (Kaelee), his adoring grandchildren Jase, Stella and Landon, and also his dearest friend/brother, Kevin (Sherry), extended family and friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Port Mouton Hall on the afternoon of Saturday, November 11th from 2 until 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Queens General Hospital in his name.
As we bid “see you later” to Junior, lets remember him for the love he shared, the memories he created and the impact he made on our lives. May his soul rest in peace and may his sprit forever guide us. Calm seas and fair winds, dear Junior. You will forever remain in our hearts and memories.

To Junior’s family,
We are so sorry to hear of Junior’s passing. He was always so friendly and lived his life to the fullest. He offered to help replace my mother’s roof one time. Some time through the day I made him a cup of coffee. My mother only has China cups. I can still see him holding that dainty cup. He couldnt get those big fingers in the handle but he never said a word. We still laugh about that. He will be missed.

Oh the memories…. Junior was my dance partner at the fire hall dances and my bodyguard when I was getting my butt kicked at the rink dances. He was the coolest guy around, driving his Z-28, hair slicked back (it always had to be perfect!). Every chance I got I would steal his comb and mess up his hair. Never got mad, only gave that sly grin. Martha, we had a lot of good times. Wish the years wouldn’t have gotten away from us.

Natasha, Nicole and Nick,
There are no words to say how Bill and I feel about Junior’s passing. We both visited him at the VG day after day and his spirits were so high. We all go back many years. I still remember the day he pulled in my driveway in Port Mouton with a brand new black trans-am with the golden eagle on the hood. He was 16 years old and proud as a peacock showing us his pride and joy. He was tremendously proud of his kids and played a great role in their day to day functions. Junior was one in a million. He was always available for a party. We had such good times at the parties at Kevin and Sherry’s for Privateers day and thank you for hosting them. Everyone had a great time. Lots of memories there. He will be missed by a lot of great friends but we will keep his memories going. Tash, Nicole and Nick – your dad was very proud of you so keep this close to your heart and hopefully this will get you through the next couple of weeks. Time heals so hopefully this will help you through this. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.
Love you all
