Joudrey, Cory Dawson, 1978-July 3, 2019 age 40, of Edmonton Alberta. Cory was born Nov 29, 1978 in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, first child to proud parents Larry and Marcella Joudrey. His remains were found June 2021 in Alberta, Canada. It is with extreme sadness to pass this information on to everyone that our only son was taken from us.
Since June 30, 2019, we held tight to the hope that every time the phone rang, it would be Cory with his joyful “Hey! How’s it going?” He has now come home to rest and it gives us peace to know God was with him at his time of need as He gave us the strength to endure all of this time without him. Now Cory can be with our loved ones who passed before him until the time comes for us to re-unite again.
Cory is survived by his parents Larry & Marcella (Publicover) Joudrey, Greenfield, Ex-wife Patricia Tower, Edmonton, children: Cassandra (Bryce Kowalko) & Jordan Joudrey, Edmonton, Jade Nauss, Bridgewater, step children: Kayla (Cody) Alaric, Brandon (Amethyst) Tower, granddaughter: Skylar Joudrey-Kowalko, Edmonton, sisters: Tracy (Paxson) Ngassa, Eastern Passage, Tanya (Michael) Joudrey-Crouse, Bridgewater, aunts: Verlene Wamboldt, Bridgewater, Sandra Cardinell, Liverpool, Faye Joudrey, Spryfield, 2 nephews, 1 neice & many cousins. Cory was predeceased by his grandparents: Dawson & Jean (Burke) Publicover, Crescent Beach, Jordan & Grace (Veinot) Joudrey, Greenfield, Uncles: Marshall (Greta) Publicover & Eldred (Buddy) Publicover, Crescent Beach.
As a boy Cory was as quiet loveable, huggable Teddy Bear that no one would have ever thought he would grow into the 6’6”, 350lb gentle giant with size 15 shoes that we knew and loved. When he gave you a hug you could feel his strength in you, now that is gone forever but we will always have the memories. As an toddler, Cory used to get car sick just being in a vehicle so “Grampy” Jordan Joudrey would take him on the daily mail run and drive just a little bit farther each time until he didn’t get car sick anymore. Back in the days before seat belt laws and child car seats were mandatory, Cory stood on the seat nestled behind Grandpa’s right shoulder, he was so tiny and yet stood so tall and proud.
Graduating from North Queens Rural High School, Caledonia, Cory went on to NSCC –Lunenburg Campus, Bridgewater and studied Auto Mechanics graduating with Honors and continuing onto NSCC Kingstec, Kentville for Auto Body and finally completing the requirements & testing to become Red Seal Certified in both trades. Cory loved to be working with trucks and became a tow operator for Corkum’s Auto Body & Towing , Lunenburg, right out of school, working with them for several years before following his passion and growing family to Edmonton, AB. He married Patricia Tower July 25, 2005. He worked at several autobody and collision centers, finally getting a job with the City of Edmonton in the Bus Garage until his disappearance. He loved doing work in body repair, never ceasing to be amazed at the transformations, from a young age building model cars to adulthood and re-building a complete Ford Ranger from scrap vehicles and driving it across Canada one November to give to his father. He was interested in 4-wheelers and seized every opportunity wherever he was to drive one when he could.
Cory loved his family and was so proud of his children. Cory will be deeply missed by all of his children, his sisters, his parents and many aunts, cousins and other family members. He has left a void that can never be filled.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 25th at 2:oo p.m. at the family plot in the Old Greenfield United Baptist Church Cemetery, Reverend Janet Baker officiating. All proceedings under the direction of Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. Any donations may be made to a charity of your choice. No flowers by request. My deepest condolences to family and friends. I worked with Cory at the City of Edmonton during his career there. At first we didnt get along, but very soon after we became good friends. Cory enjoyed being around people at work, and shared stories, good and bad. When Cory booked off work, I missed seeing him. When he went missing, I was hoping he just needed time away and would return shortly. I was shocked and heart broken to here what happened. Rest n peace my big friend. You will be missed greatly.
