Sorry to hear of Harold’s passing. My only memory of him is from the early 70’s at the arena. I was skating along and must have gotten into Harold’s way. Next thing I knew, I was being picked up high in the air and twirled around like a ballerina, then I was set back onto my feet and he continued on his way. I was only about 11 years old and I never forgot the wonderful dance I had with him on the ice.

Condolence from Tim McDonald on October 12th, 2012 9:58 am

He was a talented skater, a great dancer, a loving brother and uncle and a true friend. My condolences to his family.

One of the nicest people a person could ever meet . Everyone should be lucky enough in their life to meet someone as nice as Harold … Years ago we used to go to Bwater chasin women, Harold would always tap the dash of his car on the way down and back and in his words it was “A Good old Car”

Thanks for the great memories Harold

Condolence from Jane C. Underwood, ASLSM on October 15th, 2012 8:02 am

My thoughts and prayers are with all Harold’s family and friends at this sad time. Harold was a kind, thoughtful man who was always smiling and singing. My memories include dancing and after the dance was over, more dancing at the disco. We would enjoy sausages with all the trimmings from the wagon outside. He crafted wonderful art from wood, and was proud but humble about his achievements. Harold, rest in peace and rise in glory. Have a dance with Edna and Grace and please tell them and Tony I miss them too. Love Jane xo

Condolence from SallyFader on October 15th, 2012 2:32 pm

I always admired Harold when he was skating at the rink. He was a beautiful skater and could glide along so magically. I would have loved to have had a skate with him, but he always skated alone. Please accept my condolences – he was a great person and always smiling.

Condolence from Dannie Hyson on October 15th, 2012 8:46 pm

I was very sorry to hear of Harold’s passing. By the time I heard about it, it was too late to make arrangements to make it to his service, but it did bring back many memories of my childhood of which Harold was a part. From the funny songs he seemed to be constantly making up to memories of him sitting down at the end of my grandmother’s table for supper. He will be missed by many. He is gone, but the memories will last a lifetime. Rest well, Harold. My deepest condolences to the rest of our family.

RIP Harold, I grew up on Brunswick st and fondly remember him. There was no other skater at queens memorial arena like Harold, he skated circle around everyone and if someone fell he would stand them back up on their skates and not even lose his rythem. He danced on the ice. He was a Great person.
