Irving; Peter Roland
Posted By Obits On May 25, 2018 @ 4:44 pm In Obituaries | 125 Comments
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Peter Roland Irving, 62, of Brooklyn, Queens County, announce his passing at home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
Born in Liverpool, he was the son of the late Albert and Jean (Hartlen) Irving.
For more than 20 years Peter worked as a foreman at Harry Freeman & Son Limited, which became a second home for him. Peter loved sports, enjoyed downhill skiing with his son, Kyle and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also cherished his hang out time with buddies at Wendell’s garage and had a passion for antique cars and fast boats. Peter always remembered how he loved spending his summers growing up at Aunt Amy’s cottage on Ponhook Lake. In his later years, Peter spent much of his summers at their own cottage on Ponhook. The family will always remember Peter’s storytelling, of which some think may be exaggerated just a bit. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and caring grandfather.
Peter will be greatly missed by wife Rose (Churchill), daughter Jessica (Kendall) Farmer of West Berlin, son Kyle of Hunt’s Point, and granddaughter Ally Farmer, his greatest joy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Lohnes and his brother-in-law Harold Lohnes.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Sunday, May 27th, 2018 at 2:00 at Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to The Lodge That Gives or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

Peter and I started new careers in the lumber business together. He was a trusted and exceptional friend, employee and human being. Starting from the ground floor, the scrupulous honesty, reliability and work ethic which defined him brought Peter quickly to the leadership role he held in our organization for many years. He treated our business as his own.

Rose, Kyle, Jessica and Family. I was very saddened to hear of Peter’s passing. I met Peter at Ponhook Lake at his Aunt Amy’s cottage as a young teenager and remember having a few fast rides in the speed boat. I soon learned of his love for speed. Peter and Rose played a major part in saving my daughter’s, my granddaughter’s and my unborn grandson’s lives, which we will forever be grateful, when they came upon their flipped over vehicle on the #8 Hwy. Peter was a great guy in many ways and will be missed by all those who knew him. May you each find peace and comfort in those who surround you during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Peter. You fought a brave battle.
Rose and family,
So very sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

May you treasure all your special memories and take peace in knowing that Peter was loved by all that knew him. Our sincere sympathy too you and your family during this very sad time.
Rose, Jessica, Kyle and family –
Although we knew this day would come, it was still such a shock to have it come so soon.
So many days left to live, things left to do, words left to say. Rest assured that everything you remember, feel and live is carrying Peter through your days with you, as he would want it. He is at peace now, free from pain.
Rest easy Peter – till we meet again.
I was so surprised to read Peter,s obit. In the paper. I have such wonderful memories working with Peter, he will never be forgotten. Good-bye can sometimes be the saddest word that we must say, because it seems so final when a loved one passes away. But looking back on the memories, we are comforted to know that love has never left us, and will never let us go. We say good- bye believing we will surely meet again. Your memories are yours forever. Wishing you and your family peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and memories that will last forever in your hearts. Hugs Heather

Rosie and family sorry for your loss thinking about you at this time.
Rose, Jessica, Kyle & family, We were shocked and saddened to hear of Peter’s untimely passing. George and Peter were good friends for nearly half a century from times on Ponhook Lake cruising in their antique Mahone Bay boats to high school, university and beyond. Peter was present at the Greenfield Scout Camp on Ponhook Lake the first day we met each other. He was a true friend who would go out of his way to help others without question. Peter was one of the kindest men we have ever know and always had a positive outlook on life. If you were separated for a period of time he was the kind of friend where you just picked up where you left off and it seemed like it was only yesterday. We will cherish our memories of him. Our thoughts are with your family during this time of sadness.
Rose and family, Sorry to read of Peter’s passing. What does one say at a time like this Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
To Peter’s Family:
For the past few years one of my favourite parts of Darren & Kelly’s Boxing Day party was getting to see Peter there & he always had a good story to tell. His sister Elizabeth was one of my best childhood friends, so I was at Albert & Jean’s house a lot when he was a little boy. Especially at the last party, my sister Judi & I were entranced when Peter sat down & told us his story of treatments he’d finished in Halifax & he was so happy to be able to be back at work part time. He was a wonderful man, taken from his family too soon. My sincere condolences to you all.
To the Irving Family,
The center and focus of Peter’s life was always his family. A more supportive, loving husband and father you would not find. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Our sincere condolences.
Duncan & Goretti MacIsaac

I knew that Peter had been having some health concerns, but I was shocked to read his obituary in the paper this morning. I worked closely with Peter at Freeman’s for several years and came to know him quite well. As I read the obituary, it brought back memories to me of Peter relating stories about most of the people, events, and places in the obit. He was a great guy and I enjoyed working with him very much. My thoughts are with all of your family at this sad time. I will always remember him.
Our most sincere condolences Rose and all of Peter’s family and friends, a kind and sweet person he was. We knew him best in our youth , he always had that twinkle in his eye and was up for most anything. Our thoughts are with you and we will always remember Peter fondly.

Hello Rose, I too , was sorry to hear the news about Peter. I haven’t met you and hadn’t seen Peter in some time but the stories he may have told about his younger years on the lake may not have all been fiction. The stunts we pulled on the lake , it was a wonder we made it past our teens. Summer and days on the lake never seemed to last long enough. There were many in a canoe or boat that had gotten soaked as Peter was a great skier and we were always up to something or the other with the rest of the gang. Not bad stuff but just good fun.I’ll bet Peters ears were ringing many times as I would tell friends about some of the things we had done.I am sorry that i hadn’t kept more in touch .
We are so sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.
Please accept our condolences and our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time.
sorry to hear of your loss. our thought are with you all

Dear Rose and family, it was so sad to hear of Peter’s passing. I remember the days we worked together on the nature trail while going to St. Mary’s. We enjoyed many games of crib. Peter will be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear this sad news about Peter. I grew up in S. Brookfield and my mom, Eleanor worked for his family. I noticed in the video there’s a picture of Peter sitting on her lap so will be sure to tell her. Happy memories for sure. Will be remembering you in prayer.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your husband and father…he was such a nice man and always stood around to chat a bit whenever he came in the store. One of my favorite customers….I will miss seeing him come for Coke or later on Gatorade……
Rose, Jessica, Kyle & Family,
So sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. Our deepest sympathy to you and your families during this difficult time.
I only found out today of Peter’s passing. He and I were best friends in grade 7 at North Queens before he moved to Liverpool. Reconnecting with him years later at the mill was wonderful. I will miss him. My condolences to all his family.
So sorry to hear of Peter’s passing. I still remember the days at Ponhook lake, using our 28 HP Johnson ski boats to pull us around the lake. Peter was an excellent skier back then, and we had many hours of summer fun, I will always remember those times. Sympathy to all your Family in this difficult time.
I am so sorry, Rose to hear about Peter. Watching the video I can see so much love there between the two of you and your kids and now granddaughter. Take comfort in your memories and your family and know he is still around you and I believe will see him again someday!!! Lots of love.
