It is so very hard to lose a mom. I guess July 7th is reserved for the best mom,s. because on that date 39 years ago we lost mom. My heart breaks for you and the girls. Etta was an institution, she was always a lady no matter what the situation. A wonderful mom, grandmother and friend. Heaven will be a richer place with her in it but she will leave a void here on earth that will never be filled. Memories will carry you far and when you and the girls get together and talk the laughter from some of the memories will help you to heal. Take care of yourselves.

Lora and girls, we are so very sorry to hear of Aunt Etta’s passing. She leaves a huge legacy of loving, caring, dedication, giving, sharing, laughter, hard work and I could go on and on. My Aunt Etta was a pillar in her community who was always ready to help out and give a hand whenever needed. I am very proud to have been blessed by my Uncle Holmes choosing this beautiful woman as his wife many years ago just after the war. I remember the stories she would tell me about meeting Uncle Holmes and the loss of their only son, Melvin. We were also truly blessed to have her as a mom to our sister, Lora, and for that, there are no words to express how wonderful that blessing became for everyone. Our hearts go out to all of you and pray that in your own time your hearts will mend and the loss will ease and you will remember the wonderful memories that she left with you. Her pain is over and she is now reunited with Uncle Holmes who has waited so very patiently. She will be missed very much. I will always remember you, Aunt Etta. Thank you.

When I heard of Etta’s passing my first thought was of her singing The Old Rugged Cross on Sundays in the Greenfield Church, that always made my day. She was a real lady and one I shall remember.

Lora and family, Please accept my genuine sympathy on the passing of Etta, a grand lady in every sense of the word. I know you will miss her, but memories will help. Whenever I think of her, I picture her sweet smile and that soft little voice with the wonderful little accent. My mother thought the world of her, and considered herself very fortunate to have Etta as her neighbour.

Lora and family,
A piece of Greenfield has passed into history. Wonderful mother, caregiver to “Aunt Ev”, the best alto the choir ever had, putting up with all of us growing up… She had many, many talents. She was and always will be irreplaceable. Many good memories are what will keep her close in your minds and hearts.

Greenfield will not be the same without Etta Hunt. As a young girl and women I remember how Etta not only brightened church services with her singing in the choir but her cheerful love for life, her contagious smile and laughter made everyone in her presence happy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lora and her family.
