Holdright – Glenford Hazen, 82, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on September 12th, 2022.
Born in Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County, Glen was the son of the late Hazen and Lillian Holdright.
Glen enjoyed selling the odd car or tractor, listening to Bluegrass music, talking about the old times, catching bass, and making people laugh with his witty sense of humor.
In his younger years he worked on the family farm, various sales positions, and drove trucks. He began working at the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission in Caledonia retiring as manager in 1995. Most of all, since his retirement, Glen loved to spend time wintering in warm places like Spain and Florida with his family and friends.
Glen is survived by his wife of 59 years, Freda (Fancy), son Danny (Diane Nault), brother Louis (Joan Silver), sisters Jocelyn (Larry Smith) and Ila (Cormac Baxter).
Besides his parents, Glen was predeceased by an infant son, brothers Seyward and Roger (Linda Howard).
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of Life will take place between 2–4 P.M at the family home, 1769 Hibernia Road, Caledonia on Sunday, September 18th, 2022. No flowers by request, donations can be made to the North Queens Fire Department or the Alzheimer’s Society Nova Scotia. Online condolences can be made to www.chandlers.com

We extend our deepest sympathy at this very difficult time. Glenford was quite a guy. Whenever we were outside ( Doing winters wood) there was always a visit and chat with Glenford. We came to expect it as he took the walk past our house.. We loved the chats and we have missed it in recent years. He was such a great neighbour and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.. RIP friend.

We were saddened to hear of Glenfords passing but until his illness he certainly lived life to the fullest.I still see his smile as he and my dad would sit in dad’s garage and chat and laugh…I am sure that they shared many secrets.Whenever he arrived home from Florida there were always juicy oranges and grapefruit for mom and DAD,another example of his kind heart.May you and your family find comfort knowing that Glenford is at peace and you can quietly reflect on a life well lived.

Freda,
This is the first time since I’ve known Glenford that I am sad thinking about him. He has always, even in his illness, made me laugh, always had a joke. Meeting him for the first time at the airport in Florida in 2002, even though he had never laid eyes on me, he greeted me with a strong handshake and a beaming smile. I knew right away that I would like him, and I did.
It makes me very sad to know he is gone.
My deepest sympathies Freda, Danny and Diane.
