HIMMELMAN – Ernest W., 66, of Port l’Herbert, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
Born in Lydgate, he was a son of the late Stanley and Edith (Gardner) Himmelman.
Ernie was a fisherman and lobsterman most of his working life. He enjoyed spending time in his garage working on old engines. He loved to go to dances, camping, drives and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara (Oickle); his sons Ernest (Debbie) of Baccaro, Kevin (Lisa) of Lakeville; his sisters Rose (Eugene) Stewart and Cecile (Alfred) Jones, both of Lydgate, Dorothy (Aloyous) Labour and Mary (Blandford) Nickerson of Port l’Herbert. His brothers Roy (Molly), James (Jennie), Earl (Connie) and Gary, all of Port l’Herbert.
He was predeceased by his grandson Cory; his sisters Thelma Mayo and Pearl Barnes and his brother St. Clair.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. At Ernie’s request, there will be no funeral service. No flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

So sorry to learn that Ernie has passed Barb.It was a pleasure meeting him and knowing him for at least a short time.I’m here anytime you need an ear or just a place to rest ….I’ll be thinking of you and be sure that we will soon be in touch….take comfort from those who will now help you in getting things back on track…

It’s hard to find the right words to say to help ease your pain
but as you know, your being thought of at this difficult time. Even
though Ernie was having a difficult time, he always had a smile on
his face or he made other people have a good laugh. He lived life to
the fullest and enjoyed life in what he did. He is surely going to be
missed dearly and by each and everyone who knew him. Sending

So sorry for your loss. I went to West Head School with some of Ernest’s siblings and knew Stan and Edith. I pray God’s grace and peace be with all of you. Barb & all Ernie’s family. So sorry for your loss. Ernie had a hard battle but kept on going. I will sure miss his horn blowing. I so enjoyed our chats when I would stop & he was tinkering in his garage.

Barb, I met you and Ernie when he started treatment in Bridgewater. I watched as he fought a very courageous battle against his disease, and although it was not under the best circumstances, he always managed a smile despite his pain. My sister was receiving similar treatment and she always looked forward to seeing you and Ernie.
