
Hemming, Lorne Beverly, 84, of Port Medway, Queens County, passed away on Monday, September 30th, 2013, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Dartmouth, he was a son of the late George and Beatrice (Fisher) Hemming.
He served as a Merchant Marine overseas during WWII. Lorne worked most of his working life for the Imperial Oil Refinery in Dartmouth, retiring after 34 years of service to the company. He spent many countless hours reading, he especially enjoyed books about boats or the sea.
He is survived by a daughter Dianne Hemming (Kirk Harrison), of Victoria, British Columbia; devoted care giver Susan Chouinard; grandchildren Sean, Annika, Ashley, Aimee; great grandchildren Kendra, Hayden; sister Judy (Doug) Gillett, of Cole Harbour; brother Roy (Norma), of Dartmouth.
He was predeceased his wife Ruth and brothers Cyril, Dennis and Ralph.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service to celebrate Lorne’s life will be held on Monday, October 7th, 2013, at 2:00 P.M., from Beach Meadows Community Cemetery, Beach Meadows, followed by a reception at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool.
