Jane Marie Hanson

Hanson – Jane Marie., 54, of Mill Village, Queens County, passed away peacefully with family by her side in QEII, Halifax, N.S. on Sunday, March 8th, 2020.
Born in Liverpool, Jane was a daughter of the late Willis and Doris (Huphman) Roy.
Jane worked for Bud MacLeod’s Fisheries as a fish cutter. She also provided private homecare and did interior painting. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitching, watching her soaps and “Little House on the Prairie” and “The Waltons” as well as her fur babies. She enjoyed doing the Lexicon every Friday and loved to read. Her home was always open to whomever needed her.
Jane is survived by her companion Kevin Jones; her sons Jason Roy (Denise Ferguson) and Gordon Hanson, both of Mill Village; her “daughters” Holly Gohier of Port Joli and Meagan Godfrey of Liverpool. Her “god daughter” Cindy Ozon of Port Medway and her “godson” Andrew Freeman of Milton; her grandchildren Connor Roy, Allie Roy and Emberly Roy; her “other grandchildren” Christopher LeBlanc, Chloe Dexter and Abigail Ferguson-Roy, her “god grandchildren” Sara Ozon and Gabby Freeman. Her sisters Rose Roy of Red Deer AB., Ellen (Eric) Bonnell of Italy Cross, Susan Acker of Halifax. Her brothers Burton (Glenda) Roy of Brooklyn, Earl (Jane) Roy of White Point and Gary (Paula) Roy of Liverpool. Sister in law Crystal (Randy) Wamboldt of Liverpool. Many nieces and nephews. Jane will be fondly remembered by close friends Wilma Huphman and Velma Heasman, Corrine Wolfe, Donna and Donald Huphman, Peter Jones, Eddie Jones, Harry Oickle, Cheryl Thorbourne, Craig Oickle and LeRoy Huphman.
Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her husband Carl Daniel “Bunga” Hanson; sisters Anna Roy-Hanson, Cynthia Wilson, brother Clifford Roy, father in law Earl “Sonny” Hanson, mother in law Joan Roy-Hanson and brothers in law Davey and Darren Hanson.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where a celebration of Jane’s life will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 6 until 8 p.m.. A private family graveside will take place at a later date. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation. Jane’s family wish to thank the nursing staff at Queens General for their excellent care and compassion shown to Jane during her lengthy stay.
