
Freeman – George Arthur, 81, of Greenfield, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 20th, 2018 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lower Burlington, Hants County, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Maude (Cochrane) Freeman.
George was a self employed carpenter and president of G&D Builders Ltd. for many years. He was a 50 year dedicated member of the Greenfield Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing hockey and baseball in his earlier years. Above all else, George was most passionate about his family and spending time with them
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Joudrey); daughter, Chantelle Richard “Rick”) Gallant, of Pleasant River; sons, Nicholas “Nick” (Wanda), of Bangs Falls, Fred (Denise), of LaBelle; grandchildren, Brittney, Kelsey, Michael, Keith, Adrian, Tara, Tyler, Courtney and Jared; great-grandson, Kirk.
George was predeceased by a son, Dale; sister, Juna Colbert; half-brothers, Owen Cochrane and Alfred Cochrane.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 25th, 2018, at 2:30 P.M., from Pine Rest Cemetery, Greenfield. Reverend Janet Baker officiating, assisted by Reverend Dr. Harry Gardner. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Greenfield Fire Department.
