FORBES – Samuel R., 77, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Brooklyn in 1935, he was a son of the late Samuel and Ruth (Wentzell) Forbes.
He worked for ten years on the Mersey Ships then moved to Toronto where he was manager of the shipping-receiving department for Mandem Ford Industrial. He retired to Liverpool in 2000. He was a former member of the Merchant Marine and a member of Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion, Liverpool.
He is survived by his sister Ruth “Midge” Wallace of Liverpool, his brother Joe (Greta) of Bridgewater, many nieces and nephews and a dear friend Pam Wamboldt of White Point.
He was predeceased by his sister Betty Anne Wagner.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. There will be no funeral service at Sam’s request. Sorry to hear of Sam’s passing. I made his acquaintance a couple of years ago; I enjoyed our chats and he always had a wave as he was heading to the grocery store or Legion. He will be missed by all he new him.
I am Pam wamboldts sister and I just want to say its heart breaking to know Sam has left us…I want his family to know what a sweet and gentle man he was to all he met..he always greeted me with a big smile and wonderful hug..whenever I would visit Pam at work Sam was the first one I would look for..he will be sadly missed…take care…remember his warm smile…
