FERGUSON – Mary “Mildred”, 83 of Hillside Pines, Bridgewater, formerly of Milton, Queens County, passed away peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on January 5, 2012.
Born in Brooklyn, Queens Co, she was the elder daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Mildred “Basheba” (Snow) Flemming.
Mildred was a long time member of Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where she served as assistant treasurer and was active in the Christian Womens’ Fellowship. In her earlier years, she was a youth leader for both 4H and Brownies. She enjoyed sewing, and crafts, particularly ceramics. For many years, she and her husband, Bob were avid square dancers, forming many strong friendships. They frequently travelled across the province, as well as Europe, for square dances. Mildred loved to go for “spur of the moment” drives where she and Bob would stop along the way at their favourite restaurants or to visit friends. The light of her life was her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 54 years, Robert (Bob); daughters Janice (James) Harvie of Bridgewater, Paula (Paul) Yarn of Dartmouth; her treasured grandchildren: Mallory (Nathan England), Nathan, Shannon, and Liam Harvie, and Callyn (Jeremy Whalen), Christopher, Colin, and Camden Yarn; brother Robert (Joan) Flemming of Great Hill; sister in law Audree ( Jason) Ferguson of Halifax. She had special fondness for her niece, Alexis (John) Millar of Ottawa and her 2nd cousin, Kenneth Wile of South Brookfield.
She was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Mae Hirtle.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandler’s Funeral Home, Liverpool. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, at 3.00PM at Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Reverend Angus R. MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Milton Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. The family would like to thank the staff of the 4th floor for their kind and compassionate care during Mom’s hospitalization, particularly Tina, Jill, and Dr. Mada Nestel. I am so sorry to hear of Mildred’s passing. We saw Bob and Janice Christmas Eve at church and without her I guess I realized that she was really not well. Your mom was a wonderful lady and I have so many wonderful memories of playing at your house with her always there and gently prepared for any mishaps from our many adventures and misadventures. Lots of Love.

Dear Bob and family – I have kept you in prayer over the last little while after Jan told me of Mildred being in hospital. Please know that I keep you in prayer still. She was a great lady who loved you all so very much. In the little while that we knew each other, that much was clear – her family was her life. May God’d love wrap you all round with warm arms in these days and the days ahead. May the Peace of Christ be with you. Sincerely, Jen

Mr. Ferguson, Janice, Paula, Alexis and families…it was sad to read of Mrs. Ferguson’s passing.
