Fancy; Melva Marjorie

Posted By Obits On April 7, 2013 @ 6:53 am In Obituaries | 25 Comments

Fancy;

Fancy, Melva Marjorie, 83, of North Brookfield, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Queens Manor Liverpool.

Born in North Brookfield, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Ruth (Whynot) Lohnes.

Melva was a homemaker. She was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, A.L. Patterson Branch #87. She enjoyed going for drives, dining out, playing guitar with her son and country music. Although dementia and Alzheimer’s had impaired her body and mind, there was not a country song that she did not know the lyrics to. Entertainers at the Manor would admire her musical talent and relied on her to make sure they were singing the correct words or playing the right chord. She loved to tell colorful stories and had the ability to tell you exactly the way it was.

Her greatest joys were her son and grandchildren.  She enjoyed attending their many activities and social occasions. She loved her family to depths unimaginable and we loved her the same.

She will be deeply missed by her son Dwight (Louise), of North Brookfield; grandchildren Kim (Adam) Masland, of Liverpool, Shawn (Karla), of Ottawa, Trevor (Dawn), of British Columbia, Tristan (Sarah Haughn), of Bridgewater; great grandchildren Kelsey (Cst. Adam Robar) , Kieran, Tristan, Noah, Samantha, Braeden and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband George; son George in infancy; sisters Elsie, Sylvia, Arvilla; brothers Lester, Warren, Rex and Claude.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., from Rosette Cemetery, North Brookfield. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Children’s wish Foundation or to the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.chandlersfuneral.com

Dear Darkwing, Louise ,Kitten , Twig, Sean & Tristan…There simply are no words to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. .Nana was such a class act & a classy lady besides. She had that natural ability to see if you had a problem or something bothering you & always knew the right things to say & make you feel better & put a smile back on your face. .We have such wonderful fond memories of her with her guitar out strumming away & all of us trying to remember the words to the old country favourites…she never missed one word ..I remember the smoked kyacks that I sometimes brought out to her…she always said ” they are smelly but so good “May God bless her for her kind & generous heart….Rest in peace sweet lady. We will all meet again !!..of this I am certain !! Until that day May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. .bless you & keep you safe in the arms of God the Father !!!!

Kim & Family,

To say that Melva was one of a kind would be an understatement, I enjoyed all of our time spent together. Never will I see a woman with a guitar and not think of your grandmother, she had such a passion and spark. Music was most definitely her language. I wished I had the opportunity to eat her baked beans that she loved to tell me about, however I feel blessed to have been able to sit down drink some tea with her and sing old country songs. I hope that wherever she is she found “her big bouquet of roses” as she loved to sing for all the resident. I hope that your family finds peace in knowing that she is resting peacefully with beautiful music in her soul.

Kindly & Sincerely,

Laurie-Anne

Kim and Family: So sorry to learn that Melva has passed away. We met her when my Mom was a resident at the Manor. Many times she sat with us at the table and told her stories. She always spoke her mind and gave us many laughs. May she rest in peace and sing with the angels up above.

My fondest memory of Aunt Melva was when I gave her a drive in from the country to Kim’s place–we sang songs from the time we left the driveway at her house to Kim’s-I smile just thinking about this! Our thoughts are with her family at this time..

Dwight & Family,
It is with great sadness that I send this message to you. I was just told today of your Mom’s passing. She was a great lady and she had a wonderful smile. We had alot of laughs, both when I worked for your Grandmother and then when I cleaned for her. I am glad that your Mom was a part of my growing up and that I knew all of you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Rosie

Condolence from Cecil Lannon & Vicki Conrad on April 9th, 2013 5:01 pm

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Melva, Although we only had the pleasure of knowing her for a short time, she made such an impact in our lives and we looked forward to seeing her when we went to visit mom at the manor. She always had a smile each time she seen us and had a special smile for Cecil. She loved to sing for us and really enjoyed it when Cecil’s dad played the mouth organ for her [ she would sing and he would play] It certainly won’t be the same without her there

Condolence from Ray and Mary Hill on April 9th, 2013 6:22 pm

To Dwight (Louise) Fancy, and Family:

It seems like one never knows exactly what to say at a time of a Mother’s passing, Dwight, we, (Mary and I) want to tell you how sorry we are for the loss of your Mom.

We didn’t know your Mom personally, but she must have been a wonderful woman, because she raised a son who was loyal and compassionate to her in her life. And she must have been proud of you for the person you are.

We hope there is some comfort in realizing that you must have brought a great sense of fulfilment and enrichment to her life.

May you find peace in your time of sorrow, and joy in the memories of the days and times the two of you spent together.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this crucial time.
With our deepest sympathy. …….. Friends:
